imagine ur sister being a sacrifice in a beast-human marriage, but you take her place and have to handle the corruption within the dukedom and survive/tame a beast- while having to produce an heir with a “wolf”. her detached nature of birthing an heir ties in with astina trusting that the household will care and love the child (not all kids need their birth parents raising them to be happy/good children) assuming the duke remained a beast. what theo/astina have isn’t true marriage but a year-long contract to help theo have lineage- it was unexpected he would transform back.
i would say astina rejecting the duke’s affections before it blossoms (keep in mind he’s the one who told her that he can’t promise her his love or intimacy in ch 32) isn’t mean considering what she’s been through in her past life and present one now, as theo looks similar to her first love who ultimately betrayed her. she knows he’s not the king in the past but her character is known to be coldly level-headed and dignified. her words come off harsh so there’s no misunderstandings about her intentions and what she wants in people.
astina is nice, but doesn’t owe him kindness
omg y’all are missing such a big point in the story. the kingdom NEEDS wolfgang and his leadership right now because of the recent rebellion. it’s been years since they had a stable kingdom/economy (due to the corruption of the last king) and there has been not only one, but two coups d'état in such a short amount of time. it’s sad but shin knows the king needs to borrow powers from other royals and nobility- the people they have now are not enough to help their current situations, hence why shin told wolfgang to get married. although shin deserves treatment, its irresponsible and heartbreaking that wolfgang commanded shin for the first time because the last thing shin wanted was to be a burden to the kingdom and wolfgang’s ruling. shin hates that his love for the king will blind wolfgang’s judgement, even though the king is better than that, but look at the responsibility he just casted aside in order to heal shin. shin cares more about the people of the kingdom and desires a benevolent king way more than he cares about himself. pls he’s not trying to make things harder just try understanding him... his decisions are correct for someone working for a better kingdom :(
sunhwee literally didn’t do anything wrong in the bdsm part of their relationship. this is literally why i dislike hyesol so much; she’s a shitty dom and is toxic in general. sunhwee (and the other subs) didn’t feel like they could say no during sexual plays and all the subs felt like they had to say yes. in bdsm there needs to be safewords, aftercare, etc, but she failed to do those basic necessities. she manipulated all of them just to protect herself... but from what?? what’s wrong abt feeling genuine sympathy and care for romantic and/or sexual partners??? I’m hoping her backstory is enough to be understandable of her fear to open up, but other than that she’s terrible
i hope no one is hating on shin :( he said that to wolfgang bc his position as king isn’t stable. people were already skeptical of him, but after the coup (raid) at the palace it probably made the people and royalty from other regions see wolfgang as an unreliable king. so pls don’t hate on shin he’s always thinking about the king and the kingdom before himself for literally all his life pls protect
did they really just pass over the fact that jace was drugged and raped?? the author drew those scenes to explicitly show how scary that scene was. so it does not make sense at all how they brushed off what happened... and the fact that the duke/jace had sex literally one scene after he was sexually abused does not sit right with me. i understand if they did it for the sake of jace feeling relieved from the aphrodisiac, but the duke was not catering to jace’s needs and the timing of them getting together was so insensitive. plus jace did not acknowledge what happened after he woke up from his short coma, which im also confused about because of how traumatic it was.
YES! This!!! I feel like none of them acknowledge neither how badly the duke treated him before (shaming him, rape/non-con, leaving bruises) or how he was drugged and abused by the other guys. I mean, Jace is dumb, no question about it, but the duke is stupid too, believing Jace would want to jump into a relationship with him after all that.
Sometimes it feels like they show the effect of assault like when Jace, in pain and disheveled, told the kid they could go to the circus, or when he was trembling from fear and shame when feeling the effect of the aphrodisiac and told the duke he wasn't promiscuous (obviously traumatised from when the duke assaulted him saying it was okay since he would do it with anyone). But then in other instances it's like none of the trauma ever happened.
I didn't have a problem with the duke helping him when he was drugged at first, since it felt like he was doing it for Jace's sake, but it felt kinda disingenuous when he took advantage of the situation to get some dick action himself. Would have liked it more if he only focused on pleasing and helping Jace.
yea i agree with everything you said!! it’s understandable the duke helped him bc of the drug, but sex was not the way to go, given what JUST happened. sexual abuse shouldn’t push two characters to suddenly be together. like why did the duke go from disrespecting jace and having minor interest in him, to suddenly having romantic feelings and wanting to date him??
