I AM OBSESSED! Cannot wait for the second season and so terribly impatient. Thank you so so much to the amazing translators

Ahhh. I just want Seth to have a win, so happy to see him fighting back! Also, the art is amazing? The level of detail. I’m so glad this story is so popular so we can get quality art like this.

I know it’s not happening () but Charin and Jim are my everything. I love them together even if it’s fucked up. There’s really interesting implications of how his species type really fucked with Charin. Explored very well by the author. I’m sad af about the spoilers. I’m trying to make my peace with it because I love this story sooooo much.

I love this! I don’t mind that it isn’t tagged shounen ai although I do mind IF the the author was queer baiting us this whole time. There’s very clear queer themes running through this and I don’t think it not being a romance at the end will take away from that. It’s a different matter to say that there were no such themes by the author/publishing company to make it more mainstream. It sucks that that has to happen in 2024.

Leaving that aside, this work is truly excellent. It left me feeling cold and sad and happy too. Strange and terrifying. Really special and surprisingly funny too. So many excellent side characters brimming with life, like they exist outside of the small world we get to see. I especially love the scene where the psychic classmate grieves for Hikaru. The “Hikaru” realizing that they never got to mourn for him and how sad death can be. The question of what makes a person a person was interesting too.

Yoshiki is so wonderfully written it makes me weepy. His matter of fact turn of phrase, you’re not Hikaru because Hikaru is dead. And his battle with guilt and grieve and love. Obsessed and can’t wait for the anime.

Idk why but this manwha give me strange ass vibes. I like the concept but it’s so strange how so little critical thought is put into the idea of a baby becoming a superstar. Ethical concerns of uploading your baby on YouTube and leaving them with strangers for 48 hours. The use of his powers to make people buy stuff and using a baby as an ad. It’s so dystopian its actually kinda fascinating.

I 100% acknowledge that this is a lighthearted manwha and is not meant to be seriously and I’m fairly sure it’s a me problem.

I think the segment with Brownblack and Jun as a baby is based on the Korean variety show Hello Baby where kpop idols take care of babies like their parents. It's fun and all but also very dystopia coz how much would you trust a stranger to take care of your child lol I guess having cameras watching their every move helps

While I agree that there is definitely some concern to be had with those activities considering how young Seojun is and usually people wouldn't really do it for many reasons or at least think some decisions really well, I really don't think it's dystopian or something that's not acknowledged because it's fiction and that's because all of those activities happen and are fairly popular irl so the author and most people don't view it as a weird thing

We've had a huge raise of family vlog channels on youtube the past few years or even children reviewing toys like one of the biggest channels on youtube (like Ryan's World - Ryan reviewing toys since the age of 2 I'm pretty sure) has been something that is pretty normal now, even if oftentimes unhealthy for the child growing up

Babies have been used to promote products like baby formula, diapers etc for as long as they existed pretty much, some even to the point of children being used on packaging, not only ads and very easily seen in every supermarket

And yes, as the person above me said, the idea of brownblack's show with Seojun is definitely not new and south korea but also many other countries I'd imagine have multiple shows that include a similar idea, so it's definitely not a concept people are unfamiliar with either and all of those have been widely used everywhere

Im aware of family vlogging channels and child actors have been a thing for ages. I still stand by the fact that it’s concerning even irl. A lot of this family vlogs have horrible parents who use their kids for money and fame. This goes for kid actors too. They can’t consent to being put out there for the world to view them. It’s extremely exploitative to use children to get famous. I know they are popular irl. It’s dystopian irl too. To put children’s image on social media and exposing them to all the bad things that come along with it.

And yes, children have been used to advertise stuff but there’s an element of exploitation to use social media to make people buy a certain product using your child. It’s not like an actor being cast. An influencer fan base inherently requires a lever of parasocialness, fans feel a personal connection and to use that to get people to buy a certain product while not an inherently immoral thing is certainly questionable when you add in a child.

Loads of people are absolutely critical of children on social media, child actors (especially recently with the whole Nickelodeon situation). It is something that should be criticized. Thats what I meant with how uncritically everything is portrayed. Children in show business have frequently suffered.

Regarding the show, I’ve heard of it before and watched variety shows with children before. I don’t know how it works over there but there are certain regulations for children to work in media. I found it hard to believe that parents would leave their baby with strangers for 2 days!! Seemingly loving parents.

Anyway, I feel really stupid for caring this much ngl. Sorry for the long comment and I appreciate your comment too.

Idk why they actually left the baby alone here, but in Hello Baby that I watched (SHINee's), the mom was there all the time. Just off cam. It's a variety show so some parts are def edited. I don't think good parents would trust strangers like that, esp not when those strangers just became adults

Don't worry, I feel it too. And rather than actually investing on his own abilities, he rely too much on his past life powers. It gives me an ick I can't describe.

I really wanted to love this and I did for 99% of it. The ending wasn’t as fulfilling as I would like, I was so happy to see that they ended up together but I wish we got a panel of them together.

The author really knows how to write women, I was shocked by how good Futaba, Mami and Masumi were written. They were all so fleshed out and I would be very surprised if the author did not identify as a woman.

Mami’s story was really interesting and nuanced view of a beautiful woman. I think we all know someone like her and her story is so touchingly written. I hated Kensuke with all my heart for the things he said to her about her, about women, about gay men. I was glad to see she did not end up with the friend who treated her like a friend.
Futaba is the sweetest and best human being. Love her to bits. Her conversation with Touma and the compliment battle were so moving. They each wanted what the other had and them holding hands in that garden so beautiful it makes me tear up.

Masumi’s arc is probably the most interesting. Her conversations with the SIL and especially with Mami were amazingly done and some of my favorite dialogue. It was heartbreaking to see her struggle with her sexuality and her fear of rejection. Her life trajectory too, very interesting.

Kensuke is the worst but I hope he grew up to respect women and treat LGBTQ+ people like actual people.

There’s so much to love about this that I’m more than okay with a mid ending and a very infuriating single chapter (the one after Touma gets outed and the two girls bring Taichi to meet Kensuke). It made me feel so many emotions, both terribly happy and sad. It left me feeling bittersweet emotions to see them all grow up.

This is so fucking funny. Bestie-roomie-wifey. Also, every single character is so on point about Nakwon, naggy, rude, selfish and an asshole.

The only manwha I drop everything to read the latest update because it’s just low stakes enough for me not to be frustrated and engaging enough to keep me coming back.

PatrickStar May 23, 2024 5:46 pm

This is the person who wrote A Shoulder to Cry On!!!! It makes so much sense why I love this too. Ahhh. I’ve always wondered if they ever wrote anything after.

PatrickStar May 23, 2024 5:27 pm

This is sooo good and interesting. The world building is amazing? I’m confused by the comments saying otherwise. I love love the MC. All the character designs are gorgeous and the story is engaging and refreshing. This isn’t your typical BL ( I hope not anyway).

Charin is an interesting character, I don’t think he’s going to end up with the MC and I’ll be sad about that. The sunny side guys all seem so unlikable atm. If Charin ends up with this women building guy, I’m sorry. That is not okay but I have a bad feeling about it. I hope he dies instead honestly, cause that dude is a monster

PatrickStar May 23, 2024 4:23 pm

I think this is going to be concerning but the characters are sooo cute. It’s also strangely not too common to find black haired duos and particularly masculine presenting black haired couples, I’ll be reading just for that because I have no standards (I very much do though). Any recs for the same would be much appreciated.
