Pedophilia, pedophile, pedophilic... I had to search it up as I was hesistant to use it for this manga, and man did I learn a whole lot today.
Pedophilia, is first and utmost described as a mental disorder where the adult is only/primary sexually attracted to pre-pubescent CHILDREN. Specifically ages 13 or younger.
Hebephilia, a term not many know of, are used for adults that're only/primary sexually attracted to pubescent children (age 11-14). Strangely enough, hebephilia is not considered a mental disorder in the US, as the US does not follow the international classification of disorder (ICD).
And then there is ephebophilia which, unlike the above, is not a mental disorder, but a term used for the sexual attraction to mid to late adolescents ages 15-19.
Do keep in mind that anyone age 16 and up and that are at least 5 years older than the PRE-PUBESCENT CHILD, can be diagnosed with pedophilia.

Epebophilia IS inherently preying on the innocent though. He didn't just meet one boy he likes that happens to be young, he actively finds and pursues them over and over. He literally says in this chapter that he loves their innocence. That's why there's a name for it that isn't just "age gap."
I thinking everyone's trying to make the distinction between epobophilia and preying on a minor. The motivations, the feelings. People are arguing that even if he has feelings he's disgusting, which is saddening because in that scenario it really is just an age gap.

I think you're mixing them up.
You really don't have to prey one someone innocent in the sense of wanting to manipulate them in a relationship for it to be considered ephebophilia. It is also possible to like/fall in love with someone in that age group without those underlying intentions, and still call it ephebophilia.
Don't forget the possibility of someone preying on that age group for the sole reason of abusing them mentally/physically, is possible with no sexual attraction. Cases like that are not ephebophilia.
Also, unlike pedophilia and hebephilia, age gap has actually nothing on ephebophilia. Anyone at any age can have that sexual preference for that age group (15-19).
The term ephebophilia is not the only term of it's kind. There are terms for sexual preferences for adults (teleiophilia) or more specific middle aged adults (mesophilia).
You know what their relationship could have worked... had this been another yaoi. I'm not gonna play innocent and say that the mc is still young and the blond uncle is twice his age. There are many great yaoi couple's out there with age gaps like this.
The problem with this couple tho is that the blond uncle is knowingly and actively targeting the mc for the sole reason that he's young, inexperienced and prob naive. He lives for the thrill he gets out of doing the taboo and taking advantage of them young boys.
Had the mc been into older guys just because their old it would've been a MAtCh madE In HEavEn, but he's NOT. The boy lacks self esteem and is therefore easily swayed by people. He's looking for someone he can depend on, that understands him and does not look down on him. He's only with the blonde uncle because he thinks there are no one else that could possibly console him the way the uncle does.
The uncle also has almost nothing to lose. His BOSS knows about his habits. The guy is experienced. The boy however even tho he says he doesn't give a shit about what others think about him, we can tell he's still bothered. Him coming out to his parents has already mentally scarred him, hence the low self esteem. He's young and not mentally prepared for the consequences if the school found out. Their relationship being taboo and borderline illegal makes it nearly impossible for the boy to not be anxious of getting found out. It's just not healthy okay?
Like damn the guy knows what he's doing even the fujoshis/danshi commenting down here are getting all conflicted or delulu. This guy has his ways of baiting the mc by only stroking his ego and not actually helping him out of his shell. That's why the boy keeps coming back for more.
