I wonder when will that thin fine line between yaoi and shounen ai finally snap

No, quite the opposite actually. Some bl comic series or novels adapted to live actions or chinese animations might either get totally deprived of romance overall or the pairing turned into bromance with an additional female love interest that did not exist or was not relevent in the original source.
So in conclusion, gay couple turned into very platonic relationship when adapted to chinese television series + the media and more often then not would have a random female character to have one male lead be paired with and worse case scenerio turned into love triangle.
Heterosexual relationships however were never censored in any way shape or form
If anyone wanted more info on the subject feel free to ask, I'll provide sources and links for them.

True dat, I honestly was so disappointed when I found such things out. My first ever gay novel that I have read is Mo Dao Zu Shi. Imagine my excitement when I realized that it was going to be adapted into animation.
Of course, MDZS overall focused on their plot instead of the main leads relationship but their relationship also have so much impact and paved ways into certain plot points as well (not going to deny that I was also looking forward to their dumb gay-ness).
Imagine my utter disappoiment when I realized that my expectations were not going to be fufilled. Although I was indeed relieved that they didn't force hetero relationship... but I was still extremely disappointed.

i feel like they also censor hetero series. but not like censored in the way that they just pretty much dance between actually being in love and really really good friends. (like come on) more like, they just censor everything. cleavage? censored! kissing? censored! sex?oh look its morning. Yeah...
A lot of BL series, basically never quite confirm the relationship out right. If they are ever adapted into anime or live action, they would just cut out the romance scenes and make it seem like they just really really good friends....
I heard people can get arrested for producing BL contents ono;;
