I finished it. It's ofcourse a wholesome ending, both seem to know each other's head better now due to ~communication~ but I would've loved to actually see that. All this tension, all this obsession, I'd have loved to see all that come to a crescendo and have jung see it all laid before him. Yknow a passionate convo where he sees just how much he mattered to soohyun. But oh well whatever, it was fine i suppose. Im gonna go read fanfiction now to get my fix of that :/
I'm just at ch 3 but I NEED to say shit. Taking the rose glasses off, this dude is just a plain ol creeper. Imagine not even peaking in high school yet still being obsessed with someone who you think doesn't give two shits about you, lame AND creepy. Also seriously? Lmfao he got a job as a reporter switching from COPRORATE just like that? Who's this guy lol
But keeping the rose glasses on, it's also kinda aww. He met this man he's been silently obsessed with and he doesn't even recognise him? Heart breaks for pookie. I like that silent pining. Ofcourse it's obsessive hate for now but so what? Mans lives rent free in his entire head for this not to be deeper than that.
This one was good. Yohan was a tiny bit weird and iffy at times but it was easily overlookable and it overall ended on a pretty healthy note. These extras however, are going to the sequel route where the relationship is just crazy dysfunctional.
Mugyeong brings up perfectly reasonable points that will in the end probably be brushed off by the power of love instead of them having a serious conversation and overcoming these insecurity issues rather than treating it like a cute personality trait.
I'm fairly certain either the author has a thing for obsessive partners and their reluctant acceptors or the editor/producer does. Because there is no reason a person who knows exactly why this is dysfunctional and aknowledges it IN THE MANHWA would go on and do it anyway other than it being a personal thing for them.
Like it's one thing to pass this off as romantic from the get go which is what a lot of manhwas do and a completely different thing to list out the exact reasons why this is bad and then go on and not overcome it in any real way.
Clearly I'm still not over reading form of sympathy and the frustration it brought me.
I'm so in love with how carcel is slowly melting her supposedly cold heart just by the sheer amount of love he has for her. He's so in love with her I just cannot. The way she couldn't help but hug him, the way she's finally having someone affirm her interests instead of telling her she shouldn't be doing that as it doesn't conform to societal norms. God I love this, nature is healing.
I was about to say this is toxic but I think dysfunctional af is better fitting. Yuri is so codependent on seonwoo, it's fucking crazy. I feel so pitiful whenever I see him begging him to not go yet at the same time he's such a controlling bastard that it's as if he jumped straight out of an abuse commerical.
This turned out to be so absurd ngl. It had real potential, the backstories were great and nuanced, the side characters were great, the situations were realistic. Yet, instead of Yuri resolving his codependent attachment with his sister and mending his relationship with his other sister and seeking out seonwoo in a healthy way as opposed to what he has been used to so far (which is how I expected it to go) this manhwa doubled down on his codependency.
The epilogue chapters are not a happy end but rather seem to be straight out of an example present in a really basic abusive relationship guidebook. All I get is that the author has a thing for obsessive relationships because I can't for one second believe that someone who's actually capable of all the nuanced dialogues given here would fr think what we're being shown is a healthy relationship.
Yuri pisses me off cuz he's triggering with his controlling behaviour but like he needs help. He's literally self destructing being with someone he's so emotionally dependent on. He literally went and got hit to be manipulative like that's crazy damaging to seonwoo yes, but also to himself!!! He goes on and on about how others shouldn't neglect themselves for him but this bitch is literally doing that himself.
Meanwhile seonwoo got out of a depressive period just to enter a stifling, restrictive and manipulative relationship. Truly taking Ls after Ls. If this was real life, I don't think he'd be weirdly happy like in the manhwa, and even if he was, it'd be a manic, he's not okay type of happy not the peaceful kind of happy.
They could've fleshed out yohan and yuris friendship by them somehow being vulnerable with each other and acknowledging how much they care about each other, instead dit all just stayed very surface level, that's a plotline missed. The angry sister could've been used way better too, she was completely sidelined at the end. God, so much wasted potential even when the author is clearly capable of such nuanced and non surface level plot development and dialogues.
The experience here was like ohhhkayyyy? Really concerning but I'm gonna see where this goes in the beginning; them I could see how it could improve later on as their backstories were established and depth was added; then it all went to shit as all that brilliance was thrown into shit for the sake of filling an obsessive relationship quota I suppose. It truly was like a downward parabola.
Why is the constellation killer saying that mc took his life? Did i forget something or is that just foreshadowing? If foreshadowing, i want to know spoilers
Oh my God I agree, but I was kind of happy to because I don’t do semi situations for the main character. They always piss me off, but there was another one that I really really like and I know that I’m gonna like the ending, but somebody spoils me a little bit and now I haven’t picked it up really weird sometimes I’m OK and don’t care other times, it’s detrimental
OKAY OKAY SPOILER WARNING GUYS!!!!
Later, MC/Gong-ja manages to go beyond floor 30, but not by the natural means. Obviously everyone there is stronger than him and he gets targeted because he has the Sword Emperor w him (the ppl cant see the Sword Emperor but because Sword Emperor told Gong-ja to say something, he got targeted) but Gong-ja was saved by the Constellation Killer and later when the Constellation Killer was worn out, Gong-ja challenge him to a fight. Gong-ja won and killed him but it turns out it was just a puppet. And so a new puppet arrived and killed Gong-ja. but because Gong-ja has the ghoul skill, he's able to summon the Constellation Killer!! That's just the rough points of it, i recommend reading the novel if you want more in depth details!!
I can see why people like this so much but I've been putting this off for so long that when reading it, i feel like should've just kept it on my tbr instead of reading. Like fine whatever, its cute and all but like what do these people have against abortion istg. Romance manhwa is my safe space, i don't want to see the same RW narrative here too. Abortion is not immoral, pro choice always, I'm glad that the FMC here wants to keep it and is happy with that but I hate how they're subtly making abortion to be this immoral thing.
I know what you mean! Each time they talk about abortion it's always in a negative way. But I think that's okay because we just see the point of view of the mc and she wants to keep the baby ... so what i mean is they don't say don't do abortion but just she really wants the baby even tho she really didn't want the husband with it at first !
And the doctor at the obgyn was really rude ! Like be a bit tender with the subject !
