mkay so- i really don't get why people sympathize and like with sangwoo and yoonbum- they both murdered innocent people- i'm pretty sure sangwoo could easiy be considered a straight up serial killer. and yoonbum has stockholm syndrome. Don't come for me, i just personally really dislike this story because of how fucked up it is, this manhwa basically romanticized; torture, murder, serial killers, kidnapping, stalking, rape, ect. ect. god forbid someone takes this manhwa the wrong way, and decides that it's a good idea to pull this shit. To be honest, I agree that sangwoo is totally batshit crazy and as well as yoonbum however I don't really think the story really romanticized anything. In fact, although yoonbum is seen to be head over heels for sangwoo, the story doesn't really put either of them in good light nor does it really put any of the rape, murder or torture in that light as well. For me, I also saw both of these characters as extremely pitiful but I never sympathized them. I don't ship them, I don't think it's healthy and it really isn't supposed to be.
The author clearly doesn't romanticise any of the things you mentioned above and the manhwa too in anyway doesn't portray that (at least that's how I received it) . But it is true for some ppl who ship them(implying the issue of romanticism). Sangwoo is inhumane and an absolute psychopath and Yoon bum is ill (cmon the guy's a stalker , has stockholm syndrome).
But that in fact and obviously isn't an excuse or escape from the crime they both have committed.
I understand why people feel sympathy, sangwoo lived in an abusive household and got raped by his own mom, yoonbum lived in poverty with an abusive uncle who molested and raped him. But I legit do not get how anyone can like either of them
i think that this sums up idol life in south korea pretty well. From what i've observed anyways. i've seen a lot of people that want to become kpop idols, but they fail to realize that the industry is not all sunshine and rainbows. The suicide rate in sk is actually pretty high, and i don't want to be that one person that relates everything back to suicide and shit. But the kpop idol life really isn't as glamorous as many people think. Jonghyun, sulli, goo hara, and many other celebrities that have taken their lives, are perfect examples of how much impact people's words have. just because you choose to be an imature person and send hate to people that you don't even know because you feel "safe" behind a computer screen, doesn't mean that it doesn't matter because "oh, it probably won't even be seen". But it DID matter and I promise, it WILL come back to bite you in the ass. Sorry for the long comment, but to sum it up don't be a shitty person.
