Based on the light novels: I'd say not much on the annoying women side. There are some instances of romance...but the women aren't completely 2d in that regards. Most of the women involved have awesome characters in the game, so they aren't 'damsels in distress' all the time. And the story and fights are awesome enough to make up for any romance bits (I generally hate romance, and this one of my two favorite light novels). There is also a slight harem situation, but less completely focused on it as an actual harem story would be...
To add to it, the MC avoids romance for the most part as 'girlfriends cost too much'.
