Pretty much. They’re writing the same old “molestor with a heart of gold” and “abusive asshole with a heart of gold” they were 30 years ago. They’ve made very little social progress in that time too. They’ve very conservative and excuse sexual abuse very easily because it’s still so ingrained in their society. Ffs owning REAL child porn only became illegal there in 2014-15. They still think sex with minors is socially acceptable for the most part, (15/16+ not so much younger). They still write sexual harassment and abuse as funny and quirky because they’re decades behind, socially, other developed countries. They still don’t take rape or assault charges seriously and often turn victims away and blame them. When you have a whole word to describe being molested in different specific situations, like chikan (molested specifically on the subway), then that should be a wake up call that your country has a problem.

Yeah I’m ngl as a child I got into anime really young, elementary school, and I would watch whatever I could find online. This was back when full episodes of anime were on YouTube and there weren’t streaming platforms. I didn’t know the difference between ecchi and real anime. I watch so many things that weren’t appropriate so at a young age I just thought that was normal anime stuff and I honestly didn’t get a lot of the “jokes”. There were so many pedo jokes that I didn’t get bc I didn’t even know what the word meant! And even looking it up I didn’t really get it. I watched freaking kodomo no jikan....literally pedo smut. Because I saw elementary school girls and I WAS an elementary school girl so I assumed it was for me. But all it was was sexualized little girls and a little girl sexually harassing her teacher. Because that’s how they normalize it. Pretend the child wants it and is the aggressor. I was really desensitized to that stuff and didn’t know it was wrong until I got older and learned the implications of such things. I was groomed by proxy of these shows made for pedophiles and uploaded and shared by pedophiles. All because Japan is nasty. So I can see why others have experienced similar things but ended up not shaking the brainwashing. It desensitizes and normalizes pedophilia. Japan is the number one export of that stuff because fictional cp is still legal. If it never existed your friends would never have seen it and never become the way they are. It’s very sad but hopefully they don’t have interest in real kids
Oh we're quite the same. I have young parents and they used to buy anime CDs, that's how I got interested in watching more animes. And yeah as a child, I thought watching any anime would be fine, not until this pandemic came, I had lots of realizations.
As to my former friends, I kind of got scared at them 'cause they're a bit older than me yet they chose to think that way, so I decided to just cut off ties. No regrets, 'cause until now they are still like that ://

well i started with the webtoon, then later read the light novel when i learned there is one.. also the light novel is way ahead in chapters. i think going with the webtoon then light novel is good since you get to see the characters drawing first and will be easier to imagine their looks when you read the novel.
