i feel like every other chapter the author forgets they have a plot they have to keep up with bc there’s just so much pointless filler at this point
like genuinely who is this bearded guy and why should we actually care about him lol?? like what is his actual point in the story besides him being a love rival for horus it feel like we just keep straying further and fuuuurther away from the plot every time he shows up
and don’t even get me started on the weird ass anubis and seth dynamic. aged him up just to be yet ANOTHER random ass pointless love rival
i’m not asking for much, i just want plot minus the tropes that make no actual sense in this story
i know how yall like to tussle over this story but i really feel like it’s plateaud/flat-lined. like it’s just not giving the way it used to! everything just sort of feels like filler at this point, like we’re just dragging along pointlessly
Really? I noticed people have complained about this before but I was always confused because the plot is moving forward. They find new information —> they investigate it —> a new piece of a puzzle we don’t fully understand is revealed. It’s a slow build but it’s not like repetitive or anything.
I mean if it’s boring for you, I guess that’s fair but I’ve been have a good time just watching them try and piece everything together. You can tell there’s a bigger conspiracy afoot. Why is there a scarab at a moon god’s temple? Why is the temple like that? Who built it? Did the fronts build it? Who is the foreign god? Why does the cat matter? Doesn’t it seem like Seth has really changed and grown? What are Osiris’s ultimate plans? What is Ra planning?
If it was just sex and “oh Horus you’re the only one for me” I think I’d be far more bored. Or if it were focusing on the same misunderstanding or something like that but it rarely does (I want to say never but I don’t remember everything lol). But that’s me and I’ve always liked a good story I can get my hands into.
To be fair I feel as if a lot of manhwa and manga readers these days lack patience to deal with longer stories. But I’ve always preferred to watch the author develop the story and intrigue rather than just give me the result.
Lmaoo oh Horus ur the only one for me is so OOC for Set, of course it would suck
Right? Like it makes sense that Set would have to slowly warm to Horus (I mean a lot of progress has been made to get to the point we’re at). He wouldn’t just be like “one he saved me so now I worship is dick”.
i'm bored bc i feel like the story at this point is a thinly veiled love triangle trope trying to appear more interesting than it actually is i miss the intrigue, lore, and action of the initial first arc of the story. i genuinely could not care less about the sex or the relationships, I miss seeing the characters and the plot outside of seth, horus, and rando love interest guy thrown in for a little
*razzle dazzle*
Season 1 is best
I’ll never forget s1 set. Fine ass man
season 1 was SO fucking good. used to have me on the edge of my seat dude. the drama, the action, the angst! it had it alllll
Yeah I do understand why it might seem kinda boring compared to season 1 (given how slow paced it is in comparison) but I do agree with annoyed_linguist in that the lore portions are actually pretty exciting for me. And it's not as if we've only seen these 3 blokes, we are actually simultaneously seeing Isis, Anubis and Hathor scenes. Sure it's a bit slow but the plot is actually moving. We see what our 3 blind mice are doing, Anubis discovering the secrets being hid from him. Hathor trying to get Horus, etc.
Maybe I don't find it slow because I like Egyptian mythology and when stories dive into world and character building. I definitely agree with annoyed about how stories/mangas these days are too shallow and one dimensional. It's just about the characters and their feelings, and maybe the side characters just a smidge. I read stories because I wanna be immersed in that world. If reading it is just going to be as interesting as taking one stop to the grocery store, a journey so predictable and mundane, is it really worth reading?
I agree with annoyed_linguist and Oatmeal. I love long stories and where things get unraveled. I'm a danmei reader, and so many stories have long plots. This story unraveled things like QJJ that has a relatively long plot compared to other danmei that have under 150 novel chapters.
I know it's hard, but when I began reading this story about a month ago and read it in a day, I was blown away. When you read it in one sitting or in a short time frame, it doesn't seem like the story drags at all. Waiting for years for the story to pick up can be frustrating.
But it being a comic makes it so long when it's mostly a novel. Ennead started off as a novel back in 2014.
SPOILER!
And like the others say, there's SO much more than JUST the couple. Isis, Nephthys, Anubis, Hathor, Ra... All of their involvement in the plot is also unraveling. I know the author said in July that this season(2) still has a long way to go. And according to the Lore, Seth will be in love with Horus by the end of the season.
Also, Hathor has A MUCH bigger involvement in the plot. A lot of the hieroglyphs have alot of her story and the human she loved. The hieroglyphs speak of Horus the Elder and how he was killed by Seth.
Finally in the Korean raws, Horus the Elder has been brought up after the beetle jewel reveled it in the mirror cave/temple.
Its going to pick up soon! Now that we also know the secret behind the mirror and how it works because of the most recent chapters in the korean raws. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Be patient everyone. It's gonna get good!
Horus and Horus the elder same or?
And thank you! Appreciate the detailed explanation. I’m so excited. I don’t mind long stuff either that much since I read bunch of danmei BLs (one with 500 ch is my longest one)
Holy shit!!! 500??? The longest I read was 2ha!
There's a non bl I'm reading called Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and there's SO many people that love this story, and that story too has almost like 200 chapters of manhwa and ITS ONLY AT CHAPTER 200/800 OF THE NOVEL!!
Yes!! Horus the Elder is Horus' past life that died under the hands of Seth for reasons unknown. Isis planted HTE's ashes in her belly, and when she thus had a child had Horus of now.
The crazy thing about the lore is that NO ONE REMEMBERS HIM! Anything about him is stored in ancient tombs and temples. It's going to start to come to light and I'm SO HYPED!!
And for many chapters now there's been this underlying theme of memories and how God's forget their memories. Seth saying he doesn't forget yet... He forgot HTE...
I'm sure they loved each other in the past and the real villian is Ra because she wanted to unite with HTE... Especially since their relationship in real mythology is that they're tied.
Horus is to Ra as Helios is to Apollo. I think FG is Helios btw.
Danmei FTW.
But definitely agree with you on the Hathor part, Mojito’s been setting her up to be something bigger since Season 1, she’s clearly tied to Sekhmet somehow and I feel that she/Sekhmet plays a role in Ra’s plans (because Ra’s also definitely plotting something). My question is what the role actually meant’s to be.
Yeah. Do you think it has something to do with how Horus The Elder died?? Not that he was the mortal she loved. But I think maybe it has something to do with it and Ra trapped HTE for a while? Idk. That's the BIGGEST mystery!
