Will give a mini story..when i was a teen like 13-14 yr old I read my first bl fanfic which was new for me, like was super confused as to what was happening. Didnt hate it but yeah confused. Even asked the author why did they think of having a boy on boy romance. Who knew I'll be stuck reading BL forever after that so that girl getting confused reminded me of that time for sure.
