Does anyone else think that the rating system on mangago is overinflated?? Trash series (by all standards not just personal preference i.e terrible art, nonsensical plot, universally disliked by people in the comments etc) still have 7+ ratings.
I feel like some genres are more lenient than others. For example, BL fans are especially forgiving toward series that clearly** needed an editor to cut out plot loopholes etc. Also, I've noticed this trend for Chinese manhuas which are generally** lower quality than their Korean or Japanese counterparts (this is a generalization and idk what the consensus is on these but to ME, manhua are more likely to be riddled w/ haphazard storytelling). Despite terrible characters or cliche storylines they still have an 8.5+ rating which is kinda hard to use as a measure for how good a series can potentially be for a new reader.
Seinen or just less common popular mangas usually reflect a more accurate rating for the most part.
What do ya'll think??
I agree for the most part, that's why I think a 7+ rating isn't a high one on mangago...I usually think 9+ ones are very good, and there are some hidden gems in 8+ ones, but if it's 7+ I usually think it's trash already hahaha
But I agree that the rating is especially inflated for popular mangas, they usually have 9.5-9.8 ratings even tho a lot of ppl have issues with some plots
