I really relate to hayato in this.. a while back before I realised I as queer, I hurt a friend a who confessed to me and due to the way I treated her we lost a lot of time together bc I was scared– to this day I still regret what I had done and the moment I realised I was in the wrong I talked through it with her and now we couldn't be closer. I think coming from experience, it's okay to make mistakes bc they help u learn.. souma and hayato both made mistakes which they both learned from and are now able to be themselves bc of the lessons they learned from those mistakes. I wish for people not to ostracise a specific character but to try and understand both perspectives <3
