Ok this is the type of story you cannot take srsly bc it will stress you tf out but it can be funny if it’s not taken srsly. I’m still at chapters 50-60 and mygod I have never seen a more pathetic ML in my life. He’s all like, “I will give you anything and everything, even my life if you want it” but somehow fails to give MC the one thing that he keeps asking for which is to let him go. But MC also cannot make up his damn mind. I get their relationship is supposed to be complex bc of everything they’ve been thru but their characters aren’t well fleshed out. They’re like that one toxic couple in your friend group who have an on-and-off relationship and hate each other as much as they love each other but just cannot completely cut each other off. Might still finish this anyway bc my nosy ass wants to know how this'll end lmao.

Update: Finished it and it wasn’t too bad especially towards the end. It kinda all came together despite the plot holes but where the heck did that child of the yuyao general go? ijbol

For anyone lurking in the comments trying to decide whether to read this, DO IT!! The MCs aren’t toxic with each other at all, their relationship is pretty darn healthy altho it takes some time for them to be “together together” but it’s well worth the wait. There will be painful moments (war and angst bc of their duty/position) but it’s part of what makes this a great read. I still can’t get over the “cabin in the woods” arc that one was my absolute fave.

The first story is a gem if you’re into the master-servant unrequited love trope. There is one scene that was kind of an ick (non-con-ish) but I’ll pretend that it didn’t happen. Skip the second story, that was disgusting. The last story is too short but still cute.

I’m at Chapter 1 but I have to ask, does Xu Xin Nian that little piece of sh!t get the punishment he deserves later on in the story? Or will he be forgiven and have a happy ending? Because if that turd gets a happy ending, I’m gonna stop reading. My blood is already boiling and it’s still chapter 1.

I’m the type who prefers my 3P to be all sunshine and rainbows where all 3 love each other equally but this is not that. I also hate love triangles but the smut were way too good that I just had to bite my tongue and persevere thru it lmao. This was a bit too angsty for my taste and the semes were really just going with what the uke wanted since uke wanted the both of them period and based on uke’s conversations with his friends, he wasn’t looking for true love anyway. I don’t know if he ever communicated that clearly to the semes since I only skimmed thru some chapters. But whatever, the semes agreed to the 3P so they should suck it up. The 2P and 3P smut are really hot tho, worth the angst imo.

This was a fun and light read. If you like seeing the ML get crazy jealous, this is for you bc this has quite a few of those scenes. Although the characters are stubborn and lack communication skills, I’ve accepted this story as it is without wanting to change anything, except for one thing. I really wish the author didn’t insert that one straight sex friend scene in there. It doesn’t become a big deal in the story at all but dang, I didn’t like seeing the ML sleep with someone else even though there was absolutely nothing going on between him and the MC at that point of the story yet. I just felt like it was so unnecessary to show it. Hearing other characters gossip about ML being a “hitchhiker” would’ve sufficed. That’s the only thing that bothered me really. Otherwise, this was a cute read.

I have a soft spot for characters who choose to stay beside the one they love unconditionally while fully knowing that person is in love with someone else. Sounds angsty but it’s not too bad in this story. Keisuke never blackmailed the uke (uke was the one who “forced” him to state a “condition” since uke didn’t trust him at the time) and Keisuke never made the first move. He’s such a gentle character right from the start. Uke is likable too. I see a few comments focusing more on the childhood friend but he was meh imo, just the bare minimum. This was not too angsty or heart-wrenching in its portrayal, just a cute read overall.

onion baby says the most healing things. dating someone like that would be such a breath of fresh air. they’re both such precious darlings, as well as the people around them. this is such a sweet read.

That’s exactly how all teachers in mangas should be like. They should see their students as squirrels and rabbits residing within a forest and not potential love interests. I absolutely adore characters who take “adulting” very seriously and would never consider laying a hand on their students, not even after graduation.
