caved and bought most of the raws (here btw: https://www.lezhin.com/ko/comic/dolphin ). I don't know Korean but between the pictures and google translate, I pretty much get what's going on. If anyone wants spoilers, let me know~
okay!
spoilers below here....
avert your eyes......
okay so as I said disclaimer that I don't read Korean and this isn't going to be exact or detailed, but basically what I gather is that Changgyeong becomes ill and Mokhwa ends up contacting his old trainer (and Mokhwa's old manager) to take a look at him. Changgyeong is super delighted when he wakes up to see the man he's been looking for all this time and reacts by kissing him...and you can pretty much guess Mokhwa's response from there (lots of tears, the poor bean).
Mokhwa ends up getting kicked from his apartment (presumably for not paying rent) and decides to go back to live with his family. He doesn't show up for swim practice so Changgyeong goes to look for him only to find movers in his home. He then takes off running, stopping anyone who resembles Mokhwa in search of him. When he finally finds him, he basically drags him back to his home and then after they have sex and he passes out, ties him up (lol) so he won't leave.
Changgyeong's old trainer shows up to the apartment again and basically tells Mokhwa (while Mokhwa is still tied up naked from the waist down on the bed lmao) that Changgyeong is like a human child and needs to be taught proper social etiquette. I /think/ Mokhwa is still jealous over how Changgyeong acts with his old trainer, so he takes off from the apartment again...only to get chased by Changgyeong. He chases him onto a bus and confesses his love right in front of a bus driver (lol) and then proceeds to tell Mokhwa "I love you" over and over again throughout the ride haha.
They stop off at the ocean and Changgyeong transforms and takes Mokhwa on an ocean ride. Mokhwa falls off his back and almost drowns, Changgyeong cries thinking he's dead. He, of course, isn't, and afterwards they go to a motel. Mokhwa starts feeling dizzy during sex and passes out from a cold. Changgyeong's old trainer picks them up and once at the apartment, Changgyeong and Mokhwa discuss how Mokhwa is going to stay at his place now.
Aaaand after that, there is another story with Changgyeong's old trainer (Manager Ji...I forgot his full name, sorry) and a human/killer whale that he's keeping at his place. I haven't bought those chapters yet.
He's not! He's a dolphin. He makes that face because that's how dolphins show their aggression / threaten others from encroaching on their territory. Changgyeong, I believe, was raised in captivity by the humans so he is more endeared to them. Rino was captured by the humans in a fishing net and was injured in the process, so he takes his revenge by performing minor crimes lol. (but in reality he's way more integrated into human lifestyle than Changgyeong is...not that he'd ever admit it) Basically, he thinks humans are lesser creatures so Changgyeong is a fool for liking them so much.
The comic is currently available to purchase up to chapter 14 for those who aren't aware: https://www.lezhin.com/en/comic/dolphin_en
Spoilers below this point......
Seriously don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.......
Changgyeong is a dolphin. He's also a jerk? If dolphins can be jerks, I mean...not sure how much we can judge them by human morality but ??? I dunno, it's more of a misunderstanding I suppose--Changgyeong is just using Mokhwa to satisfy his needs and Mokhwa is actually falling in love with him which...is just bound to hurt him in the end because Changgyeong does NOT care about him. (which is pretty painful considering Mokhwa's state of mind already isn't great)
This is pure speculation on my part, and maybe because I don't know how I feel about dolphins dating people...(especially in Changgyeong's case where he doesn't seem totally capable of human empathy) but it seems like there's a chance Mokhwa and Ji (Changgyeong's old trainer) might be endgame? There's not a lot to support that yet in story, but I get the feeling Ji won't reciprocate Changgyeong's feelings (he knows him as a dolphin, after all) and I want poor Mokhwa to have a love interest that doesn't mistreat him like Changgyeong does. Rino and Mokhwa ARE warming up to each other but...again, not really sure how I feel about humans with dolphins. (plus I don't think those two have chemistry. Could see them as friends, though!)
There's not a lot yet to support theories one way or another. What IS clear is that Changgyeong is not good for Mokhwa in any way shape or form uugghhhh get yourself outta there, man.
opposite to popular opinions - dolphins are often jerks xD . they sometimes even gang rape.
i was hopping for faster plot, (i mean faster emotionally) but i guess this is going to be a long stor, and we will have to wait a lot.
oh yeah totally, I just meant that I don't know if we can rightfully judge dolphins by human ideas of morality. I know what you mean, I'm enjoying the story but I wish I knew more about how the relationships will pan out by this point :/ I'm just impatient, I suppose. Having an engaging and long story isn't a bad thing.
Aw man, I hope Shun's reason for not wanting to top isn't the usual, "you weren't originally gay so if I put my dick inside you, you'll finally realize I'm a man and not want to be with me." I want to see these guys switch. Get over your insecurities, Shun! Mio loves the crap out of you so just believe it already!! (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
I wonder if p.35 is Yato's memory or Yukine's. It would kind of make sense for it to be Yukine's, since we see his name break (and we know what happened last time we saw that occur) and then immediately see that image. It would also account for Yukine being scared of the dark if he was locked in a dark place and left to die (I just made myself sad). Or I could completely wrong, I guess we'll find out! Anyway, this chapter was brutal. Pulling on my heartstrings left and right. T~T
I see that people are saying the last two chapters are trying to portray Momo's mother in a redeeming light, but I don't really interpret it that way. In the latest chapter, especially, her motives are selfish and presented as such. She doesn't bemoan what she did to Momo, she doesn't say that she wants his forgiveness. She met up with him to clear her conscience--to see the kid one more time before she cuts ties with him forever, and the ring is for her to hold on to for nostalgia of the child she cast away. It would be one thing if she was trying to take him with her, or if she got on her hands and knees and apologized or something. But idk...she probably carries guilt but I think it's been buried beneath pride and resentment to protect herself. She's moved on with her life and is living happily. Thinking, 'I am a bad person that did these things to my son,' is probably discordant with how she views herself now, so instead she blames Momo--thinking that he is trash and so these things were bound to happen anyway, regardless of her intervention.
I like this manga because the characters' motivations and thoughts are mostly portrayed through their actions and expressions instead of only relying on internal dialogue. As for Yata's actions, I feel that he's not telling Momo's mom off because he probably thinks resolving things with her will be good for Momo. We've repeatedly seen him want to beat down anyone that misuses Momo in any way, you think all that would change just because this person is a woman and Momo's mom? I give Yata more credit than that, I'm sure he has reasons for pulling back and acting the way he is. (and as for Kuri, I'm pretty sure it's all just research for his book lol)
She isn't being portrayed in a better way. People used the fact that she used to be a better mom and that rapr changed her, but look at what harada did. She showed a woman who has no guilt, always hated momo and doesn't even call him her son but "that child". It's just people that can't believe a mother can do such things nor can thry believe that this woman is worse than the man who abused her.
You summed up everything I was thinking. The mother is not being portrayed in a positive light. You have to think a little deeper than that. She is trying to rid her self of guilt to make herself feel better. She doesn't want her past actions to stain her current self. Making amends lets her cleanse away all her previous sins if she is forgiven.
Right, it's unfortunate that a lot of people who are victims of abuse either fantasize about abuse or perpetuate it, but their victim status does not absolve them of their crime. I wonder, too, if her facilitating Momo's abuse was her way of getting back at her abuser--by using him as a substitute. Either way, the woman has issues.
My heart is getting pulverized. I fully expect for the next chapter to start with Naoto slapping away Nishina's kiss attempt. Poor Nao, both Nishina and Taichi seem to think they know what's best for him and are rather forceful about conveying it. Let the guy live and have his own say! I know a lot of people are jumping on to the Nishina bandwagon, but honestly, I feel like he's just projecting his own struggles on Naoto--basically, giving Naoto the comfort and understanding he wish someone had given him. I don't think it's coming from a malicious place AT ALL, but it's still a bit selfish and not particularly healthy. Sheesh. These characters just all need to take a time out and reflect on their actions.
girl thank you said everything i needed to say again thank. I dispise taichi but i don't think nishina is gonna give him a healthy relatonship either. I just want sweet nao to be happy. That's all i want and need.
I know I should be rooting for Taichi and Nao, but at this point Nao and Nishina make the healthier couple. It's not even that I dislike Taichi (although his raping Naoto didn't exactly grant him my favor), and I get that his current behavior is because he's scared to see Naoto get hurt. But I just think he and Nao aren't all that compatible, especially in the way they communicate (or don't communicate, rather). They'll probably ultimately end up together because this is yaoi and true love reigns, but if it was real life, I think both Nao and Taichi might be happier with someone else.
Hyou suffered abuse, yes, but that does not absolve him of his own crimes. They both need therapy and Setsu needs to removed from the house. The only reason I can imagine Akinari hasn't said anything is either from pride or some kind of weird fixation on Hyou, Setsu, or both.
