Seriously looking at the side story their relationship is super unhealthy. And realistically speaking it would go down this way:
Chanwoo has been in a lot of abusive relationships, yes, but by and large they’ve all been short, physical abuses which has catalysed the ending of the relationship. Here, he’s like a fly not aware he’s caught in the spiders web. MD will start nice and sweet, sure, the sex will be insane and the lovey will be doves but inch by inch, Chanwoo’s freedom will be snatched away. A little ‘i don’t want you going out drinking with other guys’ (goes out anyway, is ‘punished’ by an over the top, abusive session), ‘you flirt too much with customers at work, you should just stay at home, in FACT, why not move in with me?’ (reluctantly moves in only to find himself in a 24/7 dom/sub relationship, the net tightening around him), slowly but surely the freedoms get removed and the punishments get harsher until one day MD (whilst Chanwoo has his mouth conveniently gagged) pretends he doesn’t hear the safeword. He apologised profusely afterwords but reminds Chanwoo that he TOLD him to be clear and concise when he said it, so it was kinda Chanwoo’s fault. Trapped both physically in the house and mentally in a prison of low self worth and reliance, Chanwoo accepts this as evidence of his own self failing. Spurred on by this success, and not seeing his own mental plight, MD starts punishing Chanwoo outside of official play, a slap for breaking a dish, a rough, unlubed fuck for dinner being late.
