I’m the older sibling here too and will for sure relate to you soon, hopefully with some more years to come before that happens. But I do understand your fear of being without them, just to think about it makes me uneasy and I believe it’s pretty tough for you right now.
My best friend has an older brother that left a year ago, and she was struggling so hard with it, to the point that she hardly ate anything for months. But I remembered trying to cheer her up before he left, saying that she shouldn’t use up time to cry over something that hasn’t happened yet. And I’d like to give you the same advice as well. Make the moments valuable and worth to remember, something to remember when you’re apart. Play games together, go on walks, watch movies, sit down and talk with each other, go on small family dates in the city, draw horrible but hilarious drawings of each other, just make some heartwarming memories while you still got time! And don’t forget to take pictures! You spend your time crying and being sad afterwards, but that did be after you’ve made some treasuring memories and amusing pictures to brighten yourself with. And it’s not like everything will end either. Remeber to send messages and call them frequently, and send lots of letters! It doesn’t matter if you guys are connected by phones, sending letters makes it more...exciting? Heartwarming? Yeah, something like that. Be sure to send some pictures with updates, to pay visits whenever you guys got time or have a break, and to sometimes just send over suvenirs to make the other party smile.
