I think it's ok the way she is doing it. I think it's not only a good way to shut everybody up but it will also it will also confirm the duke's feelings. It's true that they could just get married but imagine being Adele and everyone saying these horrible things about you for the rest of your life. Not only that but it could affect her future kids as well. Clearing up everything with a one time grand proposal would be much better than years of constant rivals, rumors, and so on....
Also, I don't know about anyone else but if it was me, I wouldn't believe him either after telling me he was unsure if he loved me twice. Their relationship has probably been going for a couple of months... maybe a year at most. Most couples don't actually marry for years so idk, I just think the progression here is ok

the fact that she could've gotten more active in social circles is true but that also wouldn't do much. it will only sway so many people. also there some people who will know it's true and still try to be like Susan. The whole thing would repeat over and over. the proposal is to have it acknowledged by the public so that anyone in the social circles can't do anything to adele because the public already knows the duke and adele are an actual couple.
also the comment that Susan and adele are two sides of the same coin might be true but one is doing it for power and fame while the other wants a peaceful life with her husband.
in the end, all I can really think is that if it was me, I don't think I'd have the courage to live a life condemned by others and I don't know if I could put my husband through that kind of shame especially someone as kind as the duke

SO! I saw this manga a while back and I never bothered reading it BUT then my sister started playing the movie and I got really interested. Yeah.... I was crying buckets by the end of it and then I cried some more haha. I'm glad I found the manga and was able to finish it completely. Both are good and should be watched/read (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ I do wish there was more but I like the ending that it has. ~ Actually in the short (62.5) I lowkey thought that was Shoko and Ishida's daughter in the future hahaha - sana all
