He Xia knows Bai Pinting is in love with Chu Beijin , so he doesnt trust her anymore.
At one point Bai Pinting goes to Bei mu, who is the country of her friend Yang Feng, who is married to a high general.Bei Mo is under attack of Chu beijing, so she commands the army and fights agaisnt Chu.He knows.They plot agaisnt each other and she mades him retreat, but after a night full of romance, they promised not to harm each other, and that they will meet again in tree months in his country. But in order to win the war, Bai Pinting schemes to poison Chu´s brother and king of ding lu(just to make him in coma, not murder, and force Chu to retreat to his capital) but He xia changes the target and murder the heirs.So everybody thinks Bai is the culprit.When Bai and Chu meet again, he kidnaps and mistreats her and confines her, believing her to be the assassin.
He xia marries the only daughter of another country and becomes prince consort, and super cruel, he is destroying countries but misses Bai.So he plots to kidnap her with the help of Ding lu queen who believes Bai to be the assasin of her kids, so she retains Chu Baijin in the palace while Bai is being kidnapped.She is pregnant but nobody knows but Mo ran, so she feigns been ill.
He xia makes her his concubine but this doesnt agree with his queen so Bai Pinting begs her to release her, and the queen , happy, makes her leave and plots her murder. at this point 3 countries want her dead.Bai knows and scapes. He xia attacks Bei mu and Yangfengs husband sends a letter to Chu saying Bai was innocent and was He xia´s who murdered the princes. Chu starts looking for Bai everywhere.
Bai is hiding in the montains, trying to reach yang fengs house, but is ill and sends her maid with her hairpin to get help.That maid is kidnapped by an assasin who feigns her dead by wolves.Yangfeng´s people find the rests+hairpin in the montains and believe that being Bai´s corpse.Chu arrives at her funeral and leaves heart broken, he is a shadow of himself.
Bai is rescued by a shepherd and nursed to health and years later she goes to Yang Fengs house.
He Xia has destroyed Bei Mu, Gui li y almost drove to extintion Dong li, he even murders his queen.Everybody is agaisnt him, so Bai Pinting leaves to find Chu and make him command the rebels, leaving her kid with YangFeng.
Chu almost doesnt believe Bai is alive (this part is heart breaking).
They reunite, they fight, they love each other, but Chu can´t ask her what happened to her kid (Mo ran Told him).
They win, He Xia dies, Chu meets his kid, who is the rightfull heir to ding lu´s crown.They marry and live happily ever after with 4 kids

Sakamoto lies to the class that he's going to participate in a project which includes him going to mars. This of course is a lie, and he is going to die in the near future. Some spectate that he has an illness/cancer which makes this year his final year of his life. (He is allowed to speak at the graduation ceremony even though he is in his first year, and at the end, his final regret was not knowing the exact number of holes in the pharmacy, indicating that he was at the pharmacy regularly.)

This of course is just my speculation. Some people also point out that on the cover page, he is like a corpse which foreshadows his death.

Adding onto my previous reply, throughout the entire manga, Sakamoto does not show any emotion towards his personal life and does not hold a relationship with other classmates other than that one guy. He probably did not want to make them sad when the news of him leaving is here, therefore he distanced himself from everyone else. There is little to know about Sakamoto's personal life which some say indicates that there was nothing really happening in his life or is constant and is not worth showing. The last scene shows Sakamoto looking back to the classroom window where everyone is telling him how they won't forget him, showing a sad expression. This is the first time throughout the entire series where Sakamoto shows any kind of visible emotion. The other part is where his face is covered in pie, some say it's because he's crying. This is just my take on the ending. I can elaborate more on it if it helps.

Other speculations are :
Sakamoto is an alien and is returning to his hometown in mars.
