While I am a tad bit irritated with the seme for not being honest about his feelings and going about things in such a roundabout way and thus hurting the uke, I am overall happy with how things turned out. I do feel bad for the friend though. Such a good guy. I hope things turn out well for him and that he can find his own happiness with a new love.
