I'm genuinely enjoying reading through this especially when it comes to the Emperor. He may have Rose as his lover, but I am satisfied with the fact that he does not cross the line when it comes to his duty as Emperor of the kingdom. He also treats the Empress fairly, so that's a positive sign. He's realistic, charming and a man in love.

The Duke sending mixed signals is unfair by all means, but I understand. From the very start, he had this ladies' man side to him. If he suddenly drops that just because he has fallen in love with Lindsay, the hate would go to her and not him. Especially since Lindsay is a servant, his servant and is a guy (as a front).
It's obvious that Fian too is suffering, not being able to do as he pleases with Lindsay. I'd like to think of this as Fian protecting her in the best way he could.
