Also the succulents being a perfect representation for their relationship is amazing.
You can't underwater them; our mc fights with our ml to take care of the plants (their relationship) Eventually he is the only one putting any care into the plant. Just like he is the only one trying to keep their relationship afloat.
But then again these plants were something he dropped onto our ml; just like he constantly sought to be near our mc and keep this relationship with him.
And then near the end after our ml comes back; mc had previously lovebombed the shit out of him, causing their relationship to wither in another way. He states he had kept watering the plant but it still withered.
Honestly this is so well written I binged the entire thing. The beginning of the story isn't supposed to make you squeal with joy. It's a portrayal of falling into a toxic relationship; and the various stages there of; it flows so naturally as well.
Potential spoilers ahead?;
Both our characters are flawed in their own ways, yes one more than the other, our mc craves validation and love only when it is not being returned. As soon as his feelings are returned he feels disgusted and leaves, he can only love when he is not loved in return. This of course is toxic as he leads these individuals on, even if they are abusive towards him; and cut them loose the moment they begin to show vulnerability and intimacy towards him. He's stuck in a constant push and pull of pain from the toxicity, the moments of positive intimacy in-between and then his own ability to process the love.
Our other mc sucks ass as a person. He does not know what it means to love someone nor to care and he is blinded by his own anxieties regarding said feelings and the vulnerabilities they open up to. If anything I wish we got more of an insight into his character but still.

Read this if you are prepared to deal with an array of characters who do not undergo ny character development for 30 whole chapters.
Our main character is the best written out of them all and that's pushing it; between constantly flip flopping between liking the ml and hating him. Being moved by him and. He does have his moments that show his depth of his character so I appreciated that. Everyone else sucks.
Speaking of sucking; our ml is the most infuriating, stubborn, pathetic character I have ever had the displeasure of reading for 25 chapters cause I couldn't even finish the story. His ears are decoration as we watch him continuously ignore EVERYONES critiques of him, instead deciding to act like a goblin whose been locking in a cage for 5 years without any sunlight or social interaction. This guy has absolutely no idea what he wants in life, and continuously makes that everyone else's problem. He gets one good hair cut and does a 180 for FOUR whole chapters! Before becoming unbearable again.
Does anyone have recommendations for other stories that follow the trope of mc (p1) falling in love with someone, but the one person (p2) being disgusted. Then as a result the mc (p1) slowly loses feelings over time. Only for the one who was rude (p2) to realise they actually do like them? Idk if I overcomplicated that

I couldn't read much of this I will admit; our mc doesn't have much of a character or personality beyond that of going "master! Master!". There's also a weird age gap vibe going on but I couldn't even get to that part because both of the characters were just boring. Idk
