i understand where a lot of yall are coming from when you don’t like the behavior of the boss in the beginning. however, one thing we don’t enough in BL are flawed characters with genuine personality issues and baggage. sure, angst is a given in most stories, but you never really see it effect how they behave in life. the world has beaten and grinded this guy down to where he feels that he’s better off being hated and feared than loved, because he thinks he’s only good at being taken advantage of. that’s a good plot line that takes time to develop and grow!! he’s NOT a good person in the beginning, but guess what? he GROWS to become one. he’s slowing breaking down those impenetrable walls and letting someone in for the first time. that alone shows character growth. does that excuse what he did in the past? no. he has a lot to make up for in his behavioral issues. does that mean he can’t be redeemed and become a better person? also no. he is the most flawed character i’ve seen in BL, making him feel the most human. that’s why i love him. he’s not some escape from reality, he’s the cold hard truth that we’re all a little fucked up in the head and we aren’t perfect by any means.
