Nakyum understands that his feelings for Seungho may not be love, yet he is interested enough in him to want to stay by his side. His Noona gave him advice, which is the best and only thing she should do; she laid out Naykum's options in front of him and tried her best to aid him into making a decision she viewed as correct (which obviously means leaving Seungho). Nakyum is old enough to figure out his emotions but i think his Noona still sees him as a child which is why she reacts the way she does. I understand the people who are mad about the sudden change in character that Seungho had, as that's not enough to make up for all the shit he's done in the past, however for good character development we need plot. We as readers have no idea how much is left of the story, the author probably has so much to reveal yet and these characters all have progress to do. As much as I want to dislike this manhwa and drop it (all b/c of Seungho), it has peaked my interest and has me coming back every update...ughhh
I wouldn't call this incest, since the brothers never had any sexual interactions. This is more of a one sided love, and when you think about the physiological reasons as to why the main character fell in the love with brother then it will help you understand the story better. I hate incest stories but this portrayed moving on and finding someone new, which is a good take on the overdone and nasty bl incest storyline. I'd be more than happy to elaborate on my comment, just lmk!
I would understand if this story makes people uncomfortable since there is still some sort of sexual depiction between the brothers. However, I think people should elaborate on their opinions so others get an understanding of what's in store for them, rather than misinforming the audience. I hope you and others who are in dilemma about this story give it a chance, it may pleasantly surprise you!
Sorry I missed wrote my comment I wasn't gonna read it bc I thought he cheated on his boyfriend with his brother, not really incest itself, I don't like cheating stories, incest in general I don't care & read it if I find the story interesting.
I did read this story & enjoyed it, it's interesting bc Aki was confused on his own feelings & I love how he moved on
I know many people are frustrated at the author, but let me tell you guys something (and feel free to comment back, I would love to see all views on this matter).
This might get a little long ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
First of all, please stop the hate, yes the author is dragging the plot and it gets frustrating having to wait WEEKS/MONTHS, but no need to swear or hate on the author. Constructive criticism or simply pointing out your frustration is fine, but please do it nicely :)))
Second, I understand your frustration, I personally haven't been following the manhwa that long, so for those of you who have stuck with since the beginning, I applaud you for your patience (even if it's starting to run thin) (also, please don't hate on each other, if someone is expressing their frustration, let them, this is why comment sections are here for, but once again, please talk nicely, no need to swear or hate on each other)
Now, for the real explanation...(/TДT)/ Most people are starting to dislike Yuyang because they think he's being too 'childish' and 'failing to understand Lihuan's feelings". So let me clarify: Yuyang knows that Lihuan likes him, he's not blind. Yuyang isn't doubitng the fact that Lihuan likes him, hence why Yuyang started to develop feelings as well. HOWEVER, Yuyang is scared. Why? Because he loves Lihuan too much. Yuyang has had multiple partners in the past, but they have all resulted in heartbreak on his side. Why? Because the people who had said they 'loved' him, eventually 'realized' or 'came to the conclusion' that they didn't like Yuyang anymore...simply because he was a man. Now, in comes Lihuan, who falls deeply in love with Yuyang, yet has been considered straight all his life. (Lihuan, as far as we know, has never been in a relationship before, so we can't determine his sexuality, maybe he is gay, bi, or straight...and that's the problem: Lihuan doesn't know his sexuality, he simply knows he loves Yuyang). In Yuyangs eyes, Lihuan is another lover who can suddenly decide he is unable to love a man and simply turn away. Yuyang is unable to bear with that heartbreak, especially since his feelings for Lihuan have grown so much. Yuyang is afraid that if Lihuan were to tell him "I don't love you anymore", that, that would ruin Yuyang (emotionally). Yuyang is simply afraid of being hurt, and we can't blame him for that, he is human, he wants to be loved too.
If it's confusing feel free to ask for more clarification, lol. Anyways, please continue to support Here U Are, it's such a good manhwa, and even though half of us want to rip our hair out, lets just wait and see what's still in store for us! (▰˘◡˘▰)
Hey, I’m with you. Not all loves are perfect. I’m a coward, too, so I totally understand feeling scared to be hurt someday. When I love I do it passionately, so I used to wonder how the girls (and boys) around me can easily get into a relationship with anyone who likes them, and I used to think that their feelings are kinda shallow. YuYang came from a family that doesn’t accept him as he is, so it must destroy him (multiple times even) that the person he believed to accept him simply changed and turned away. Yeah he’s a coward, yeah he’s hurt LiHuan and that’s something I hope he will apologise for some day; but I hate to see his feeling and his choice being made invalid by the readers just because it’s not going the way they want.
You literally just spoke my mind lmao I was about to say everything you just said about Yuyang.
This is hurting me so much, I hate seeing how he's not only hurting Lihuan, but himself too. The thing is Yuyang believes this pain is more bearable than getting rejected by Lihuan in the future would be. He doesn't want to go through that with Lihuan, he knows it'd destroy him to hear something like "I don't like you anymore. I prefer girls" coming out of Lihuan's mouth. Because Yuyang doesn't just like him, he /has feelings/ for Lihuan. In my opinion, it's pretty logical for him to be scared. This whole behaviour is a defense mechanism he probably developed after all his previous heartbreaks and that's something we can't really control. I wish more people understood this.
Of course it's frustrating, I don't deny that, especially when we all know they should just try to properly COMMUNICATE ashjdhd but please understand that Yuyang has his own valid reasons to act like this. It's not right and he should apologize later on, but just like no one wants him to invalidate Lihuan's feelings, don't do the same with his own.
I completely agree with everything you said! And this isn’t like it’s a surprise that came outnumber of nowhere, Yuyang’s apprehension, as frustrating as it is, has been foreshadowed and explored for MULTIPLE chapters already. This isn’t a surprise to me that this is happening bc of his past and his hesitation towards being hurt.
People honestly need to stop complaining. I love bl manga, but so many of the ones I've read are all the same recycled story lines, and this manga is one of the first where I have seen realistic progress/development. I understand, you guys want Yuyang and Lihuan to get together, but the author has their own story line planned out, and we shouldn't force them to scrap those ideas just because we are impatient. In real life, most people don't go from being strangers to being lovers in a matter of days, it takes TIME, PATIENCE, and OBSTACLES. The author is trying to portray a realistic lgbt+ relationship in an not so accepting society, so let them drag it out, let them add misunderstandings, and let them play with the characters feelings, because in real life, that is exactly what happens. It isn't a walk in the park.
On another note, I want to thank DJun for their hard work on trying to get out a new chapter every week, I know it's hard and I applaud them for their consistency. Love the art style too, so beautiful! (● ̄(エ) ̄●)
Honestly I was contemplating whether to even read this story at the beginning because it was tagged as student x teacher but I'm glad I gave it a chance. This is a great take on the whole age gap/student x teacher dynamic that causes so much controversy. The author did a splendid job at establishing the characters positions and personalities throughout the whole story, I found myself feeling for the characters and rooting for them at the end. I do appreciate the teacher's inner conflict as it reassures the readers that this story doesn't romanticizes predatory behavior. I also like how the couple waited until the student graduated before initiating a relationship which further solidifies the author's intent to not glorify inappropriate relationships between a minor and adult. I personally do not mind age gaps (when both parties are consenting adults) and I loved seeing the chemistry between both characters, they fit each other so well! The thing I appreciate the most is how PG13 the author kept the story, aside from a few kissing scenes (and the bath scene which wasn't even explicit) it was nice to see the characters go through obstacles without the inclusion of sex. Overall this was such a nice read and I'd definitely recommend!
I love your breakdown of the details of this story, and I do agree! It's rare of me to find student x teacher tagged stories that I can enjoy since a lot of them don't really place that much importance on the severity of the prompt or idea. There's a lot of romanticizing their positions as student and teacher but not a lot of respect for the characters and the thinking they go through. If you liked this one, I recommend these too:
Suki ni Nattara Dame desu ka?
Kyou mo Ashita mo Asatte mo
Both are great in the depiction of the realities people in these positions face and have very smooth and consistent storylines. Again, great critique!
Thank you for the feedback T.T I also agree with your statement, many stories romanticizes the characters positions which is uncomfortable to me as a reader. I always have trouble finding good student x teacher stories so your recommendations are super useful, thank you!! I will definitely be checking out these stories (●'◡'●)
