I also hated Helena because I thought she was typical clumsy and lovable FL but she's really complex.
Helena became a comonner, her family stripped of power and their title. I can understand her mother's trying to desperately recover that by using her unwed daughter as her way out. "Just smile stupidly and don't complain. You'll make yourself look like a victim if you continue to be 'naive and pure and that'll attract people to you'" which is solid advice. Helena's beauty becomes her only strong point, this way she'll secure a good marriage and save them both. That's an awful pressure for a child but her mother's life has ended-her daughter has not. In her mom's eyes, she still has a chance.
Her demeanor and her looks attract a big fish (aka the prince) so her mother's betting all on that match. Meanwhile, the Queen wants to have a naive and stupid girl as the next Queen. Already assuming her looks is all there is and that's she manageable and won't make trouble. She'd get rid of the King's side and have her own pawn.
Like Eris, the adults in Helena's life have failed her and only see her as a tool. That's why she sympathize with Eris. She knows they're the same but they can't bond over this because they both have too much to lose. They can't afford to show their weakness to one another
Cecilia is a dumb bitch lmao like you're a bridesmaid to the future empress and will probably be a lady in waiting. Why throw that away for a girl that wasn't selected to be the empress? Hope she fires her ass because I'd never trust her around me or my future children. You're basically plotting against the crown
Sovieshu: *cheats on his wife, brings mistress to the palace, strips her of her title and accuses her on being infertile without proof and publicly humiliating her
Navier: K, but I want to move on too and get married

Saw some spoilers that she goes back to him even though he's a dick and others saying he was justified.
Is this story worth it tho? I'm in chapter 1 still Excited for the plot but want to know if homegirl doesn't suffer (a lot lol)
He made seriously bad judgment calls and choices in the past. His hands were, in a way, tied, but he still caused immense suffering. From my POV he paid for it and is doing his best to currently make amends. He has a long way to go before he earns the Duchess’s trust and love but the important thing is he recognizes he’s mistakes and suffering he cause and is working toward a better future. Really that’s all we can ask of each other.
He made every shitty decision possible but in his defense he was being threatened. Fuckface over there (MC Dad) threatened both her and his son. He had to ignore them or actively hurt her to stop the dad from doing worse. Was it a good choice? Not really but worried/scared people don't always make good choices.
Lmao what's up with the edge lord warning page? Them trying hard to say "iT cOnTaIns RaPe InCeST doNt WhINe lAtEr aNd CoMpLain duur huur". Bitch you ain't Junji Ito, sit the fuck down.
I didn't even read the story and just stopped when I read that because it's so off putting. A warning is okay but already calling everyone's opinion shitty right before the story starts? Damn
it's not "your opinion is shitty" but ppl being weirdos in the comments and doing mental gymnastics with their fake wokeness and harassing anyone who doesn't give a shit abt their moral superiority. how many times did the uploader/scanlator post a notice this manga contains xyz and they were literally sent death threats lmfao if anything this notice was great
Harassing artists and scanlators is a shitty thing to do but comenting on a story and having a discussion is another thing. So, they already calling an opinion shitty because the story, is so supposedly "so triggering" is off putting. Reading other previous comments, this particular group is shitty af so this doesn't surprise me.
Yeah, there are that mangakas that are known for having particular stories (like Harada I absolutely loved her work) and even though some have uncomfortable plots, it works because the story is good. It's never the artists fault, we as a reader choose to read her work. So maybe the story is good, but that scanlation group warning? Yeah, edge lord
After finding out Cain was a literal dog bruh
