I mean, he IS dumb because he ain't communicating properly with Maetel (they both are dumb and dumber) but what he did by provoking Wayton is a common (yet desperate) tactic to buy some time.
In that situation, Louis has nothing else to lose. He doesn't know if help would come, so it's either die without trying something or die after trying something. If he keeps his mouth shut, Wayton is going to kill him anyway but if he provoked the guy with such spicy topic, it would give a few moments to spare while Wayton threw tantrum and demanded for explanation. Judging how Wayton reacted, Louis can still buy more time if he pushed more of the psycho's buttons.
He would die if he keeps his mouth shut, and he would die if he couldn't wriggle his way out or help didn't arrive even with that few extra moments of delay, so Louis actually has some form of advantage by provoking Wayton. He knew that he might not made it alive after all. It's either die now or die later for him so I think even if he knew the chance of escape was miniscule, he wanted to at least fight to save his life, and spiting Wayton before he had to inevitably die.
So, between having to die like a coward or die in sass and spite, Louis chose the second one.
I was planning on buying this but since the author is deranged, I changed my mind. Whew, what a save on my money.
Same, I read the first few chapters of a series on here and then legitimately purchase it if I like it (regardless of how many chapters a series may have). I've blind purchased too many manga that seemed interesting but fell off very quickly. I won't spend money on something I'm not sure I'll like, especially with so many excellent stories out there. I was ready to purchase all the released chapters for this authors' works but my main focus on buying chapters is to support the artist. I don't want to support someone who does heinous acts like this.
