But it became too popular that the author has to make it work. Honestly, I like if it ends at chapter 16 there and then. So, it's like if people want to read it for what it is then it's a story until chapter 16 and there's kinda an alternate ending for it so here goes side story.
I don't think alternate story is really the word here cause side 1 is literally the continuation of 16 which is supposed to be the end.. it's probably just the author giving in from the pressure rn

I really want to know what happened with jian yi but ox is using the same trope of disappearing on the other two and mostly writing about them since they got so popular.
