What the problem is and what the discussion should be about is the glorification of it. If this manga properly addresses what happened and painted it in a negative light then thats fine(at this point we don't know if it will). But to just expect everyone to be okay with it if its romanticized is crazy.
I love reading dark stories but we need to detect the difference between a dark story and morally inept one. That's why I find the "then stick to shounen ai" argument so weak.

sadly, most of the time, even if the author handles the scenario very well, most of the fans will romanticize the whole thing.
