In some omegaverse where pairs have been broken by the alpha the omega usually goes through extreme emotion and physical pain and spends the rest of their lives in a hospital normally driven insane due to that pain.
(some authors have to so that in their omegaverse universes it's impossible unless one of the pair has died for it to be broken)

In a couple omegaverses i read if the omega rejects the bond wholeheartedly and sets their mind on it, it'll fade in time. Or if the alpha rejects the omega it fades as well. Or if they stay away long enough it fades. It really depends on the authors telling of their omegaverse universe.
