Yes he did. I think it was meant as a trophy, and that maybe Clark had already been involved in similar crimes or was going to start to be so. That may be also why he was so carefree about the crime scene: he already knew exactly what to do

I didn't take it as that. I felt like it was him taking a piece of his old self back and getting the final "HA". Clark was still in love with the therapist and Alex having his ring(which he swallowed), killing him, and having his finger was why he took revenge. Him burning the whole place down was destroying everything about Alex and his killings and therefore doing what Alex was most afraid of being abandoned and Forgotten. Wow that was winded lol.
