since Ashan was treated like a ghost because of his foreign looks he had nobody to talk to and was lonely and sad etc, anyway he had a sister that looks like him and she was the only person who loved him and the his cousin (the tanned nice guy) was in love with her. after that his sis was killed by ashan's older brother (he's from another mother) muhammad as a way to threat ashan if he ever think of becoming a sultan at that time ashan was a mercenary so he came back immediately to the palace after he heard of his sis death and then he acted as if he didn't know who had killed her, and planned for his revenge with his cousin to kill him. and the plan was to kill him at that war place so the're wouldn't be any evidence left. at and that place where he met Seoyoon by chance, and his feelings were empty after taking his revenge and he felt that Seoyoon's eyes were fired with life and wasn't scared of him and couldn't die easily so he fell for her then.
so since Ashan killed his only brother, he was for sure going to be a sultan but since he hates the county, everyone was scared that the're will be a huge massacre once he takes the reign. after that his father said on his death bed that askan will be the sultan and ashan will have the oil fields.... then Seoyoon convinces ashan to move to korea with her and then he moved to korea and became a president of a company (that's what i've read until chapter 76).
there's a part i didn't mention: Seoyoon's sis came to oman and then she was kidnapped by ashan's uncle (because they didn't want him to be a sultan) and he threatened Seoyoon that she must kill ashan or else they'll kill her sis. so she came to kill him knowing she's the one who's gonna die after that they fight and then she surrendered so he cut his wrist and sucked his blood and kissed her so she could swallow his blood as a mean of forming a bond and then he he went to save her sis, and Seoyoon was shot in the process while she was protecting ashan but she's alive now.
also another part: they actually met before the war place. they met when ashan was a mercenary and she was a soldier in the forest so things got messy and he helped her. and from that meeting he realized that if he meets her again, she'll be his weakness.
another funny part: she made him swim back and forth while she was sick (as a cute revenge because he did that to her before when he was injured) but then he grabbed her and left her on his shoulders.
after all i think the reason she fell for him because he treated her specially and cared for her and she felt so sad for him when she heard his sis story and how lonely he was so she came to understand him and wanted to save him from his misery by leaving the county with her.
