Yes, Koutaka celebrated Chitose's bday every year but why was he waiting for his text? Why didn't he text him? So he'll forever be scared of loving Chitose? If Chitose hadn't sent that spiteful message, Koutaka wouldn't have made a move at all. Personally, I would have been more satisfied if Koutaka reached out first. He was the one who kept things from Chitose and avoided talking about important stuff, which made them distant in the first place.
