The only BL fans that are gross are the only one that fetishize gay men. Thank god that I have fujoshis friends that respect me as a person and realize that my struggle as a gay man is not going to match what they see in yaoi, but don't blame the genre sis blame the author and disrespectful fans. From a gay fudanshi 1) They want the relationship they see in some yaois, but I find it kinda weird that they think they have to be a guy to have that sort of relationship 2) I think the reason why fem characters are looked down upon is because the manga takes place in Asia, where traditional values on gender and a cultural emphasis on marriage, fa......   1 reply

> It's so weird. I'm an mlm and a fudanshi, but when I discuss with some anit-fujoshis about how yes some BLs are bad but that doesn't mean that yaoi or BL is inherently bad, they shut me down me down by saying that my opinion doesn't represent a whole community without actually listening to me. I understand that they are right about how my opinion doesn't represent the entirety of the community, but they shouldn't use it as a tactic to silence a voice from that very community.

>Yaoi isn't inherently bad. While there are a lot of yaois that contain harmful tropes and stereotypes, the genre itself should not be blamed or canceled because it is by definition a medium which showcases a homosexual relationship with explicit scenes. So if you can tolerate erotic straight scenes in mangas, tv shows, movies, animes, etc., then erotic gay scenes between a homosexual couple shouldn't be an issue, unless you have double standards. If that's the case, you should stop and think where is this double standard coming from? Why is it okay to consume erotic straight media but not erotic gay media?

> Let's talk about the terms fudanshi and fujoshis. In Japanese, it literally means rotten girl and rotten boy, and that the reason for their rottenness is due to the mere act of consuming manga, anime and novels that feature romantic relationships between men(which is homophobic af). So, when I see fujoshis/danshi being used as a derogatory term to describe the women/men who read BL, it infuriates me because the anti-fujoshis are perpetuating the idea that consuming gay media is a bad thing. Hence, anti-fujoshis should differentiate between the fujoshis that read for the plot and those who fetishize mlm(meaning those who only read for the sex scene) and those who objectify mlm. As of right now, the terms fudanshi/fujoshis are being reclaimed in Japan. This is a good thing since they're removing the negative connotation of consuming gay media, which mitigates cultural homophobia and introduces GOOD lgbt representation into mainstream media.

>One final thing, lemme talk about ships. In mainstream anime, no one bats an eye if you ship a guy and a girl together, but the moment you ship two guys or two girls together, it's an issue? When it comes to love, there isn't a difference between heterosexual relationships and homosexual relationship, so to argue that shipping two same gendered characters is problematic is just internalized homophobia/homophobia straight up.
