can u explain what happened in this manga? i didn't quite get it ;-;

the black hair one (forgot his name) is a god and he can only live with humans until he is 18. every 30-50 years a god is born in the human world. but humans start to fear him but his friend is a beholder which is a person that isn't affected by him. beholders are meant to be with the god until the god is 18. but this pair fell in love with each other and now they're separated </3. sorry if this doesn't make any sense. feel free to ask anything else!
