Bro like i swear im actually so worried for the country. Everytime the king does some crazy shit im like damn what will the court think about this??? Also can we talk about how he just straight up killed one of the six most important ministers???? The uke’s dad??? Like gosh it’s a miracle a coup hasn’t happened yet

Honestly speaking, i really do think that this a well written story. Despite all the things the top has done, uke still cant help but fall in love (?), which is honestly pretty plausible if this were to happen irl. Both uke and seme have depth to their characters, and i really liked seeing the top’s scruples when it came to killing people and the complexities behind why he still keeps the bottom around. However, good writing and attention to detail dont always make for a good story. Im not saying its not a good story, but their falling in love and possibly getting a good end is teetering towards mid territory. Like someone else said in the comments, it feels like we’re trapped in a loop. 80 freaking chapters and we’re back where we started. I know a lot of ppl love happy endings (me included, i like having a good end), but this is one of the stories i just dont think deserves a happy ending. If there were to be a happy ending, then it basically renders the entire first half of the story useless because all that pining for revenge and stuggle was pointless because it turns out they love each othet!! So what was the purpose of dwelling on the ukes thoughts and hatred for the seme? There’s just no sense of payoff. Remember when he did all sorts of warcrimes against uke and his family? Yeah well, forget that now cos theyre in love. I WANT to see them happy because yk, theyre our protagonists and ultimately reading abt characters who are happy will make the reader happy, but it feels like we’re almost cheated of a story yk?? Also like sorry for ranting about a completely hypothetical about good vs bad end when it is literally only just season two but…i cant do ts anymore you can only push and pull so much until shit gets repetitive like, when i was reading ks some of the escape shenanigans got real old real fast. Basically i just think it should have a bad ending. Or an open one, at the least. I feel like that would make all of this feel “worth it”. But i do want to stress that the greedy side of me wants to have a happy ending cos who doesnt like good endings but yeah story wise bad end would be really satisfying
TLDR; love the writing, storyline kinda repetitive but would def benefit from a bad ending; if it was good end then no payoff and makes for an “unsatisfying” story kinda
Okay hear me out on this one…lowkey despite all the freaky as fuck sex (AND the fucking incest??? Hello??? Still fucking problematic even if they arent bio…also called that out from chapter one lol most authors on mainstream platforms are too “scared” to include blatant incest) the story isn’t THAT bad…right?? I mean right off the bat the biggest issue i had with the story was how it portrayed the mom and how it tried desperately to justify the dad tryna kill her; it almost got to a point where i was really beginning to wonder if there was some kinda subconscious misogyny going on. Anyway, it gets…better? I mean we get to see both sides of the story a bit, and i think that since the mom’s motivation for acting that way is shown, the reader is given more of a chance to come to their own opinions rather than just having “moms a bitchl” shoved down their throat. That being said, the second thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the incest and how it was implemented. I believe that plot points should have the right to exist in stories, so long as they are handled carefully and with nuance. This was not the case. There is definitely a universe where there is a story that explores these fucked up family dynamics and perhaps the incest that happens after a dad tries to kill a mom, but in our universe, this really reads like fetishes stacked on top of each other wearing a trench coat. I’m not going to deny that the writing is good (wouldnt call it phenomenal but it is way abover average), but it doesnt change the fact that the sex scenes exist almost not as a storytelling device but rather as a way to appeal to the desires of the masses who require sex scenes to enjoy a story. It’s not egregious, like jinx level fetishization, but it definitely crosses into that area. It’s a shame because i really, really like the story and i truly wouldve wanted to see more of the mom’s perspective and the dad’s childhood and relationship with his parents. But we were robbed of those things in exchange for a few completely unnecessary INCESTUOUS sex scenes. Also can we talk about how the incest just flies over their heads??? Like????? They truly believed that they were blood related and just literally stopped caring after they had sex like once are you fr bro. ts pmo icl anyway so i really enjoyed the writing, especially when the part where we feel like mc is losing control except he starts playing 4d chess with his dad. That was kinda fire.
Anyway all that to say that i just fucking hate this story for what it is but i love it for what it couldve been. There IS nuance, such as when we see the father’s (very brief and occasional) reflections which make me believe that this is more than just another gooner BL, but then it follows up with fisting. Like, nothing against portraying that in stories, but let’s be so fucking honest with each other for a sec, do you really think that contributed anything to the story, or do you think that the author included that so gooners would want to continue reading? Exactly. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
idk man so much of this story just pisses me the hell off (like the mom’s psuedo bdsm thing…it’s not even bdsm cos she sjus straight up raping the dad like what) but at the same time the story is just so interesting…i dont wanna say good but it actually is kinda fire if i ignore the shitty incest thingwhich is admittedly impossible
