the way they showed vincent character slowly developing and starting to open up was actually really well done i was hooked but then i saw some spoilers and its so freaking ridiculous im actually mad lol why does lucas has to die just so the plot can keep going??? and then he donates his eyes to vincent… and now vincent’s not blind anymore. fine. but THEN vincent looks at paula and suddenly thinks she’s beautiful because he’s “seeing her through lucas’s eyes.” like. what. i don’t even know where to start with how dumb that is. so all the emotional buildup, vincent learning to live with his blindness and connect with paula in a meaningful way it’s just tossed out for this dramatic nonsense? and they kill off the *only* character who actually saw paula’s worth without conditions? AND the “he sees her as beautiful now because of lucas’s eyes” thing??? i was expecting something real and heartfelt and now it’s just turned into some weird eye-transplant melodrama. huge letdown tbh
I read the novel and vincent doesn’t really mention lucas that much at first, however he does say that appearance doesn’t matter to him as he has been betrayed by many people before…
