the official definition of mistress:
a woman (other than the man's wife) having a sexual relationship with a married man.
so no, stupid harlequin men, you can't have a mistress if you're not married and calling your lover your mistress if you're unmarried is, not only the weirdest thing you could do but alsp highly offensive as that implies an immoral relationship

i hate it when ppl who regularly get stalked and harassed develop no skills to prevent it. as if ppl are that dumb and useless, if it's a current thing, you not only get used to it but also learn how to deal with it efficiently. he still acts like it's the first time in his life that he got stalked. maiden in distress at his big age

that's not what i meant. i meant in how he deals with ppl, he just "puts up" with uncomfortable behavior knowing damn well it's gonna escalate and then acts like a damsel in distress bc otherwise there would be no plot. but we all know that ppl who are used to being objectified, sexually harassed and stalked at least have some personal protocols and threat management strategies bc of how used to it they are,ge acts like it's the first time it's happening to him

he's traumatized, and you cannot expect traumatized victims who have received no support from others to magically react correctly in these situations. victims are often retraumatized bc their bodies and brain chemistry have literally changed from the inciting incident, causing them to freeze when they should be fighting. being stalked is one thing, and nearly being gang raped is another. you literally cannot fault the mc for that.

fl being a modern woman reincarnated in a world of swords and sees a gun in that life for the firs time also seeing that the guys who got shot up thunk its a toy: a silencer on that gun wow! wdym how do i knowso much, i just know as much as any regular (modern) person.
i can't with that professional dumbassery. a d also the fact that she waanted to wait for the baron's daughter to save the twins knowing she'd die bc of it later on?! and still thinking it was the best thing she could do bc that's how it happened in the story? is she psychopathic, i truly think some "following the novel eventho there's no complusion to do so" fls are sociopaths and psychopath

didn't read more after the first chapter because I'm not reading another "i love you so you must become mine" romance where it's probably a contractual relationship with terms unfavorable to the woman and all decided by the man but the man acts like it's the greatest tragedy of his life and neglects her even tho he has obligations as her husband and a humam being to respect and protect her bc he's the one who put her in this situation, until he slowly falls for her and her kindness and beauty and now he doesn't want it to end eventho she wants to, bc he never has and never will respect her wishes and treat her like her own person and not his tool/possession.
thank you very much

The title isn't exactly right either. The ML isn't really a cold Duke either. And FL is the opposite of a Villainess. She's trying to hard to follow the script of the novel, but every time she's in front of the Duke, her soft self shows on her face without herself noticing it, making the Duke fall for her instead. But FL is dense.

the reason for the "rules" and her being a hostage are shaky at best. i know that romance stories don't have the best worldbuilding but come on. he's the king, be can make his own decisions about his queen. and it's not an absolute rule that the king and queen of amaha cannot have a "real" relationship, it's just bc the resentment towards amaha festered and the past king despised their queen. he's not the past kings, he's his own person. the onyl rule in their union is that she's the queen and not only a priestess, nothing else has been notorized to limit them.
one "bc i said so" from the king and there would be no obstacle

In ancient times the king in fact didn't hole the most power it was in fact the officials in the court that did. Often the king yes had his queen but the very fact is that his father likely had concubines and consorts that had kids that came from these court servants. So this king as well likely has cousins & step brothers that are all truly holding the power in the nation. We in fact see this in not only Japan, but in Korea and China as well. So yes a set time was given to the king for how many days he was allowed to have with the queen and this was in fact chosen and influenced by the court officials as well. The king was often a seat of yes power but the court officials wielded that power thru the king. The king as well couldn't just force an official to step down as each official held the land of the king in his hands thus a lord of the land and this lord if he didn't want to do something could force the kings hand. Today's emperor of Japan is just a figurehead that wields really no power today after WWII. If you look up the Kim family in Korea you have more detailed information about how corrupt officials bound the monarchs.
utter foolishness
