OK SO... did the grandad of misaki liked him? Or was it just platonic? Help I can't get over the fact.

It did remain platonic, but they loved each othe romantically. We know for sure that Haurito's grandfather was in love with his friend; but on the day that Misaki went out with Haurito's grandpa, he told him about the poem?/book his grandfather made sure he remembered, the same one Haruito's grandfather read; Misaki said that he always thought it felt like a "love confession", which we can infer it was for Haruito's grandfather; however, because of the war, Misaki's grandfather felt like he had lost so much that he would like to have children, and at that moment, Haruito's grandfather made the conscious choice to step aside and allow his love to realize his wish to have children; he sacrificed himself, never confessed, and became like the "moon", loving his friend from the distance.
I don't think I can express enough how much I love this manga. The grandparents' stories has me gushing in tears and sadness (/TДT)/
I WAS SCREAMING RUN THE WHOLE TIME
