Ehhh I mean I didn't HATE it, but... honestly all the characters were so badly written. I liked Minho because there was a lot of potential (the backstory bits of how smart and honest he was gave a hint at an interesting character), but Hujun and Sekyung were both shitty although at least Sekyung had some dimention to his thoughts... Still I'll rate it okay since I've definitely rated worse things the same. I just want some decent characters in these webtoons ffs.
A lot of people seem to be confused by the dialogue and story and I dont get why? I find the translation pretty easy to follow and I like the word choice and structure so i was just wondering what people don't understand (although for some I'm sure it's just because they read this before the first one).
I read the first one first, but I'm still pretty lost (^_^;). I get the gist of the story for sure, but it's like things were vague enough that I was in this perpetual state of mild confusion, not *precisely* sure what was happening. I still enjoyed it, but as I come out of reading both of them, I'm just vaguely confused even though I had a good time, if that makes any sense?
rather than the words I think what contributed most to the confusion was all the "memories" jumping around. Like one minute we are in the present where he...
*spoilers ahead*
...has come out of his coma for a while now and is just living normally, then it flips to him right after coming out of the coma and having a sense of urgency, then it flips to him currently trying to find his missing memories, then it flips to a brief wisp of his missing memory.
that is more difficult to follow than the actual dialogue.
Shiwon actually pisses me off so bad. He's so stupid and cant even try and see things from another person's point of view... he's also a major hypocrite. I'm not gonna drop this even if it is annoying but all the characters are kinda shit and although I like Jinha at this point and think he could probably do better, I just don't see if this is going to have a satisfying ending even if they do end up together...
I mean every five seconds Kaito was dramatically taking off his glasses and letting down his hair. The first time was enough. Please stop doing it so often, bro. Also the officers NEVER STOPPED TALKING. You're catching a criminal not having lunch with your gran! Get it together. So incompetent... Argh sorry for the rant it's just I've read so much yaoi that this just falls short. My only compliment would be toward the fact that there was no rape-like sex scenes.
And the fucking mask lol. He basically takes off his glasses and puts on another pair of glasses and suddenly he's unrecognizable. The whole thing was SUPER corny. It was still kind of enjoyable though compared to hundreds of yaoi I've seen with great reviews that were absolutely horrible. Like you said at least there was no rape.
I really loved this and it's definitely an instant favourite but my hope is for a sequel that can progress Ethan and Jimmy's relationship while giving some more information on Jimmy's background (since it's clearly there waiting to be revealed) and put some more stuff into the side characters (like I'm super interested in the guy who knew Jimmy from the talent agency but was friends with Ethan) and having Jimmy connect with some of those characters instead of just Ethan could be cool.
For those who are confused about Blue's situation I personally think it doesn't need to be cleared up too much since the outline of what happened is there. His twin brother died when they were young. His name was Sea which is why when Ethan said the stuff about the name Blue reminding him of the sea he cried. He didn't really want Ethan as a lover, just as another brother really.
Something I really appreciate about this is the look into family being something you can choose in your life. "Found families" are important but it's okay to not want a family of any kind and just live your life without the idea that you owe a family anything. This is really important to know for a lot of cases (especially in abuse) so I was happy to see it discussed even vaguely)
Sorry for the long rant. It was one of the better comics I've seen for a while.
