i'm ngl, this sounds fucking terrible. from what i can gather, emily (mc) and jane (body) are BOTH alive except emily's body is in a coma therefore it's more of a body swap? mc does return to her original body as does jane (jane then goes into her own coma or some shit) by touching her own body. it's rated 19 bc of its topics of abuse and trauma (i'm getting this out here rn: mc is or was abusive to ml where she physically hit him when he was a child). samuel (ml) wants revenge on his family's assassination therefore his investigation and killing of emily and her family (her father is suspicious and a candidate; seems like mc knows this but doesn't do anything about it?) in their previous lives. samuel is a child due to his family's magic(??? or passed down shit) in the men where they must form a bond to become an adult.

but sheesh, everybody sucks in this novel. samuel is obsessive toward emily (in jane's body), emily hates samuel, and i'm gonna assume jane is a soft-hearted person whom is nothing like emily from spoilers. also, it sounds like the author is romanticizing abuse in their relationship dynamic whether as fucked up humor or other.

why was this on my reading list

mc is the duke's biological daughter. she (and her mother?) was sent to her uncle's care bc her mother had an illness (which she later died from even though the duke tried finding a cure) and mc cannot handle her brothers' magi thus unable to live with them, otherwise she'll die. the duke never abandoned mc and always sends money to her but the uncle manipulates him and takes it for himself.

ig it's a happy ending??? not much from novel spoilers but there's a timeskip, the uncle ends up broke and on the streets(?), and everybody's happy. mc's brothers and father care a lot about and for her.
