It's sad that they can't get married legally. It's sad that just being able to publicize their relationship, especially to their friends, is hard because of the consequences of coming out. Besides, being married would help in emergencies. Imagine not being allowed to do anything legally if your partner gets hospitalized, or not being allowed to have their things and assets if they pass away.
My country does not allow same-sex marriage, and there's this post I read that a gay couple adopted a child, and the legal guardian on paper was away (the other parent) and the child got hospitalized. The other parent couldn't do anything and can't even see his child because legally, the child is nothing to him.
I just hope my country realizes that same-sex marriage and being part of the LGBTQ community in general isn't a sin, a blasphemy, or a mental illness. Being able to express and present yourself in a way you want to without being shamed, and being allowed to love who you want to love, shouldn't be a privilege, it should be a given right to everyone.
Anyway that was a long comment, and I loved this story so much. I love how they found each other again. Definitely a "right person, wrong time" moment.

Even in countries with same sex marriage legalization, the consequences are still there. However I think in a country such as Korea, I can't even imagined that problems and discrimination that will come up. I dont think it's a bittersweet ending, more like a realistic ending. And, for better or for worse, in real life we do not always get a closure
Anyone got link to the novel if there is any?
