The author did an AMAZING job at writing about the intricacies of a Korean immigrant moving to America and interacting with Koreans from Korea. It's spot on, from the discomfort of not being as good at the language to the different way of thinking. The biggest impact imo is how growing up in different cultures really impacts your way of thinking. I wonder if the author is a gyopo or returnee herself??
Some other things that were totally relatable were the Korean church community (huge deal) and not being used to the young/old respect culture. We used to call ourselves twinkies (like banana - yellow on the outside, white on the inside) but it wasn't a negative/bullying kind of thing like in this webtoon.
It's cool to read about the experience of moving to America and interacting with Koreans as a gyopo, as a Korean-American myself!
Oooooh angry Cain, I like
