I'm sorry but I feel like crying looking at the rating of this comic.
I'm 6 chapters in and it feels painful to go further. Hosik's rape incident, his pregnancy and that absolute shitfuck of a sunbae stalking him and "dating" him is all taken as a joke. HOSIK IS TAKEN AS A JOKE. What the fuck kind of message is the author trying to give?!
Hosik is getting no support from his family, or that shitty excuse of a premed best friend, or his "boyfriend" sunbae, who gets away with everything because of his looks and reputation as a senior.
Maybe this comic gets better. Please tell me it does because I've never felt so emotional reading a comic but this is just.... Everything is taken so lightly as a joke just because of Hosik's gender. Imagine feeling that hopeless and alone in that guy's shoes. No one to give him a support but his psychotic rapist stalker.... this sucks I'm sorry
You're missing something worth reading for. Well anyways sunbae is kinda obsessed to hosik but he never did things that could hurt hosik. The start is not that good but it gets better as you progress. Promise its so good i thought it was bad at first but i gave this a manhwa the benefit of the doubt and its definitely worth it. Trust me but after you read it and didnt like the story then its fine we have different taste anyways hahaha.
I see a lot of conflicting views on here so I'm just going to list the things the seme does that is controversial and you can decide whether it bothers you or not. This means that there are SPOILERS. If you are reading this and aren't up to date, SPOILERS and long rant at bottom:
.
.
.
.
.
.
-First, I disagree with the user saying it wasn't rape. The seme had sex with the uke when the uke was drunk (and seme was sober) so there wasn't consent. No consent = rape. The morning after the uke was visibly distressed and scared that he just had sex with the seme and didn't remember. Not to mention, the seme purposely made the uke drink (therefore purposely got him drunk), then suggested they go home together.
-The seme tracks the ukes phone without consent and generally keeps tabs on him without consent. This includes hiring people to follow him and making a key to the uke's (parents?) house without consent.
-He goes through the ukes phone more than once, again without consent.
-Gets jealous when the uke hangs out with his college friend, or generally talks to other guys.
-Physically stalks the uke throughout the story (showing up at the clinic, tailing the uke when the seme was trying to get them together)
-He also forces the uke to have sex alot***
*** "Forces" is debatable b/c if you read a lot of yaoi, the uke typically says "no" but I say force because Hosik would be tired/not in the mood/something but then again I don't think Hosik ever initiates. There was this time the seme made Hosik pee too and that didn't look like fun watersports but more of a "I'm drunk and I have no choice" pee. ***
-Seme is emotionally manipulative. He doesn't compromise and uses pretty unhanded methods so Hosik can give in - like making a show of him being depressed so Hosik can feel bad.
My OPINION (which is useless so if you don't care for opinions just don't read this lol):
-I guess the problem I have with this story is that THERE IS NO CONSENT. Other people commented they don't mind if someone goes through their phone. That's fine. If it doesn't bother you, more power to you but I'm sure you at least said that you were ok with that stuff or was made aware it was happening. But Hosik gets upset and tries to leave/take a break so it's clear that he doesn't like it when the seme does stuff like that. What's more Hosik ends up relenting because the seme would stalk him to the place he's at and they would go home together.
-The seme doesn't really compromise either. Ex : when Hosik says he doesn't like it when he's being monitored because he's not a child so don't make him wear the "missing child" bracelet the seme is like: lol ok, I'm going to hire someone to follow you. Then when Hosik finds out some bodyguard is following him and tells the seme he doesn't like it cause it's awkward the seme is like: lol ok, I'll hire TWO and make them go at a distance instead. And then Hosik gives in and just "sighs whatever"
Though I must say, the seme is a good father and he does put Hosik's wellbeing in mind. Like the reason why he hired bodyguards was because he doesn't want Hosik to get hurt. Still, I don't think being worried about someone should equate to upsetting them and being an obsessive low-key psycho.
-Finally, I don't like the way it's glossed over. I know it's a fictional but Hosik's distress is the whole entertainment of the story and all the characters don't question the semes actions because he's 1) good looking, 2) rich and comes from an affluent family/is an heir. Especially Hosik's parents who just "ohohohohoho" the entire time and don't bat an eye when their son tells them he's pregnant and suddenly is getting married.
I'm agreeing wholly with you here. This manhwa is just a combination of dark themes but in a lighthearted portrayal, especially with the cutesy and fun artstyle. All kinds of serious themes are explored in a very disturbing, forcedly funny way but nobody gives a shit. It's distressing, but it's kinda entertaining to see the war of likes, dislikes and opinions on my comment lol. You're one of the more sensible people I've met here. Thank you.
Yeah, I am honestly worried for the people who sympathize for and defend the seme. I hope nobody treats them like this in the future. I'm going to assume that most people on here are younger so they have some sort of skewed, unrealistic view or they're old enough to dissociate this from reality and only take this as fantasy.
I get what you mean by that but have you ever read other yaoi manhua, manga & manwha before that is worse than this? If so your gonna react much worse than that lol..... What your trying to say basically is that his possessiveness, overprotection, being a stalker, getting his phone or doing stuff without a consent and raping hosik is why you hate this? Well I respect your opinion but I think you should read more stuff and see that this isn't that bad compared to the others
( ̄∇ ̄")
If you go to my homepage you can see that I've been on here for a while and have read my fair share of messed up stuff including Harada and Tagame. I don't bag on those because the authors write within a dark genre and do not try to pretend it's something cute. I don't understand the mindset of "well this other thing is worst." Well, yeah? There are always things that are going to be better or worst. I don't compare works, unless it's by the same author/a sequel/prequel, because they are irrelevant to each other.
& I didn't say I hate this. I'm pointing out the things that are unhealthy about it and personally don't think care about whatever happened in their past life bc its in the past and doesn't justify his current actions. Frankly, the creepiness wouldn't even bother me if the seme had told the uke about their past life and they took it from there.
Well, we obviously have differing views and that's ok. I don't plan to respond to any other comments on this thread since I made my point as did you. Have a great day.
I know you said you won't respond but you mentioned Harada and I couldn't stop myself! I just read two works by Harada today-- one was pretty light, the other was a psychological one. I can stomach heavy yaoi works as well-- if they're portrayed well, y'know? Like imagine Harada doing cutesy art in Color Recipe-- a manga which can rival, even eclipse this manhwa in terms of "disturbing themes". It can never fit.
That's what I have to point out about this manga too. The art is too cutesy and upbeat (even the emotions Hosik shows of despair are like Einstein with crocodile tears), and all the dark themes are written in a manner that just screams "IT DOESN'T MATTER!".
Anyway wow you got taste and sense
Ok, first I'm not comparing each others work, I just said that there are much worse manga, manhua& manwha that I've read before...... I see that you've been here for a while and read a lot of manhua, manhwa&manga and understand what I mean there are much more worse than this....... I'm not new here too but this isn't my first manga website so most that I've read here are only a part of what I've read in total ( just saying ).........
2nd, I'm sorry that I've misunderstood you by saying you hate this manwha, and I do respect your opinion since each one of us have one.......
3rd, I'll just take it that you just don't like the seme's behavior, cause that's how I understand It feel free to correct me though, if I'm not right........
And lastly~~
Have a great day too and thanks for replying
ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
You're pretty respectful. I just wanna clear my part here by saying that I, for one, don't like the seme right now but that's because I stopped reading six chapters in. But I've gathered from the readers that he's very loving and hardworking, and I can kinda see that from his interactions with Hosik (kinda).
What I don't like in this manga is the way Hosik's rape, all of his negative emotions and expressions and just him going through all the shit is drawn in such a manner. I just empathised with him, and felt hurt that the author would just go and draw all that out in such a light-hearted way. Like imagine yourself on his shoes. Do you think you can tolerate it when all of the times you cried from suffering and hopelessness is portrayed in a cutesy, almost comical way? It felt insulting, and I'm not even the mc.
Again, I just wanted to clear up haha. You probably didn't read this whole essay and that's understandable ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ I wrote too much.
Good day!
It's okay we have our own different preferences and opinions on what we read, and how we deeply understand a story but in this case we have a different one, it's nice of you to clear things up by replying to me I really appreciate it....... And I kinda get what you mean too, in your perspective......
Have a good day too (=・ω・=)
Glad to see someone sharing the same worries as me! Harada knows their shit, they portray dark themes the way dark themes are supposed to be portrayed. Imagine Harada drawing rape and psychotic, stalkerish characters in a bright, cutesy and funny way.... um no pls
I'm shocked to see people wishing for a partner like the seme. But what do I get from trying to explain it to them? Nothing but backlash. So I'll just hang back lol. To each their own, after all.
It's actually good. I was thrown off at the last one shot because of the "rape scene" but then I went back and read it and realized that it was a misunderstanding. Because Shizuo genuinely thought that Koizumi was another of his clients who came to him for sex. And I'm pretty sure Shizuo realized later on that Koizumi was clueless about his prostitution, and wanted to keep Koizumi out of it. I just wish other readers would understand this before disliking the story. It wasn't intended rape. Shizuo was doing his job.
I think James and Samuel both let the rape scene go bc they felt that Rugal was utterly defeated at the end... and was possibly gonna end himself. I'm still disoriented from that scene. It could've gone MUCH better, 1) without the damn rape scene or 2) a more reasonable reaction from James and Samuel to what happened to James. Are these boys so desensitized by everything that happened to them throughout the story that they don't even care for Rugal's (last) reappearance and actions??? urgh
But despite that I loved this story. Loved Angel, I wanted him to live so bad. I loved Brett since day 1-- and I had an inkling that he would be Serpentine's boss. Marcus and Licht are so into each other it was both heartwarming and scary (esp after reading Samuel's inner monologue about blindly trusting Rugal's drug).
I also loved Lucciola (amazing character wow such a queen), and I somehow grew to love the poor detective-turned-Ricky's-toy-gym teacher. He's just...soft and lovable. Ricky you're a fucking douche but I hope you treat the poor baby well. He's been so loyal. Fuck you, Ricky, but I'm only giving you a chance in my books bc how you still consider the gym teacher as someone precious. TREAT HIM RIGHT YOU SCUM
I only have a small disappointment (forgetting the damn rape scene) that this story was so void of female characters except for Samantha. Like it was kinda unreal-- in a bad way-- how all the plotlines and relationships and developments were surrounding men. Sigh. I'm not a raging feminist or something but some more female representation would've done the story only good.
Would give a story an 8.5-- 1.5 cut for the bad handling (and writing) of the rape scene, and the lack of female characters.
Urg this was beautiful. I almost cried at the last chapter, when Yeonduk said he chose to study at a university close by just so that he can stay with Skyler. Just... How much these two think of each other just pushes and pulls and messes with my emotions so much. I seriously wish there was more to read.
The first season's ending also made my heart ache a lot, but the second season ending is just... Like it's so close to being perfect but there is still so much melancholy remaining.
A sequel, maybe like "2 years later" or something would be great... But I'm happy with the ending. The story is just....just...*SOB* There I go crying again just thinking about all the different scenes in this story. Brb gonna empty out the tissue box.
Hinata's "I'M HERE!"at the end of the backstory just filled me up with emotions... like he was the answer to Kageyama's helplessness.
Take it any way you want--- platonic or romantic--- but Kageyama and Hinata are what complete each other. And they've been waiting their whole lives to meet each other, their other half. This is so much. A sports manga isn't supposed to mess with my feelings so much dammit
omfg ikr! Idc if it’s romance or bromance, there is something unexplainably there that can’t be defined at all. Without Hinata, Kageyama would never be the way that he is now. The same could be said about Hinata but for Kageyama, it just had to be Hinata. Everytime things got tense, Hinata called out Kageyama or reassured him without a moment to waste. I hope we get a chapter of them playing together again because my aching soul really needs that rn.
Also also, I think that the “I’M HERE!” is a reference to japanese figure skater, Yuzuru Hanyu. It was the first thing he said as soon as he finished his program in 2018 pyeongchang Olympics after a series or injuries prior that had brought suspicion of whether he was going to be able to preform or even attend at all. (He won)
“I’m here” can be translated from “Tadaima” - which means
-“I’m home” [this form of meaning is used as greeting when coming home to someone else in or at (your/their) home]
-“I’m back”
-“I’m (back) here”
Hence I think that it could be inspired or referenced from Yuzuru. Just a theory however
I ADORE Yuzuru!! And I know the program he did at Pyeongchang, I was so worried the whole time, given how he was injured so many times, and fell here and there or faltered in his landings. But. It was one of the most beautiful piece I've seen him perform.
And he did say "I'm here!" not only at Pyeongchang, but also that one time (shoot I forgot where) Javi had performed so good that when Yuzuru had a small falter in his program, the Spain fans around him started chanting "Javi, Javi" and he got so angry he modified his program mid-performance because he was so damn competitive hahaha. And later he was like was like "I'm HERE, you know!! (/TДT)/ " explaining to an interviewer, talking about how he got mad jealous of the Javi fanchants.
I'm sorry I just gushed about Yuzuru all over here lol but cmon this cutiepie legend deserves all the gushing in this world!
Omfg I’m sorry I didn’t reply quicker so that I could gush about Javi and Yuzuru and kagehina and everything!!! My damn mangago decided that it wanted to be a selective lil hoe who only notified me manga updates instead of thread messages. I have my own personal ship of javi and yuzuru ლ(´ڡ`ლ)...That’s for another time-
But yea, once again I can’t help but be in complete agreement with ya’! Yuzuru and Javi both have my heart and I cry everytime I rewatch Yuzuru’s interview about the earthquake that hit his hometown. Hell, I cry watching them smile, or cry to them crying themselves. I cry when they fumble their jumps or even when they first step on the ice. I’m just so glad that I found a fellow fujo-skater-stan fren~ It’s dope that you understood the reference too. Aww man I’m just really happy ig
What is this fluttering, wholesome, fluffy thing in my heart? UGH
Please I know there's gonna be something bitter happening soon but I don't wanna see these two go into drama I just want them living happily and going on dates(/TДT)/
Also...I got such Iwaoi vibes from this manga because I'm Iwaoi trash... childhood best friends turned lovers and all that. And it helps that Leo looks like an innocent Oikawa and Shii Chan is a soft version of Iwa Chan. Am I the only one that thinks so?
WAIT
