Chanyoung and his "brother" was suppose to be something, maybe the author was planning to make them step-silbings or something and go from there. I thought it was clear foreshadowing when he said that he'd "never fall for a guy" and the flashback with his older "brother" being disgusted by his curiosity. But it seems the author scraped it for the random second couple?
Possibly, but yes. otherwise it made no sense for the author to add that little subplot in and she fleshed out the brother as well...and then we pretty never hear of it again lol. as it added nothing to the main storyline lmfao. it's too bad, I would definitely be in interested in like a sequel of some sort surrounding them.
Seungho literally killed a guy in the first chapter, what do you guys expect?
But anyways the plot thickensssss!!!
"A young painter...creating erotic images of men...Then Seungho, a young nobleman, barges into his life. A hell-raiser notorious for his insatiable lust, Seungho forces Na-kyum to become his private painter. However, the nights that await Na-kyum are beyond anything he could have imagined…"
likeee I don't know how you thought this story wasn't going to be a controversial one. also considering a lot of bl novels have rape tropes in them? f you've been on this site long enough you should know by now. You're really purposely being obtuse.
Is there really a need to be so technical? Part of what would be considered "controversial" would include something like 'rape.' and 'romanticized rape' is still 'rape.' I don't know why you're so fixated on it being 'romanticized' when it changes nothing. And BL has A LOT of rape type plots, and assuming you're not a new bright-eyed reader of this type of content then you shouldn't be surprise. Especially with this type of manga where the summary and first chapter should've given you a big clue. Again, stop being obtuse.
Well isn't that just unfortunate for you then. Well when I first started it, from the summary and first chapter alone I was expecting it. You know if Seungho and his orgies and his first killing and forcing Nakyum to paint for him wasn't enough of a greenlight to think so. Easy deduction to be made seeing as others who commented above me thought so too.
stories like these is so sweet in that we get to see a steady progression of their relationship yet it's such slow burnnnn. At least the author is giving us kisses and lots of cuddling now. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
with them, you can't take what they say at face value. the author has given us plenty of moments where they showed more than tell us about their relationship. she also utilizes the side characters such as the mother and brother/fathers and how they view their relationship from the outside as well. again, this is one of those stories where the romance isn't super direct but it is very much an important factor in the story. and it's something that the main characters aren't fully aware of yet or are ready to admit to. so if you're looking for a in-your-face , fast pace, shounen ai, this ain't it lol. it's the opposite really. XD
No I'm not looking for "in your face" lol
I think they are both grown up and at least they can be honest with their own feeling. The artist could make at least some moments when one of them thinking "maybe... he's different?"
And artist mostly try to show the way people, parents or... see their relationship is some misunderstanding but in a cute, fluffy and funny way!
"Salad days" also is not a IN YOUR FACE type of shounen ai but you can feel and you can see they both have feeling.
That's right it's at the authors transgression to do whatever with them, and she prefers to go the more indirect route. She knows what she's doing, her side project webtoon has the main couple going at it like monkeys. Also the point of the side characters is not just for comical relief though, they're outside views into what everybody else can see of their growing relationship as the main couple can't see it themselves.
And 'Salad days' is wayyyyyy more upfront. The first chapter alone gave you no qualms that romance was going to be at the forefront of the story. 18 Unlimited has always been more subtle.
