See, this is why you don't choose the humans over the dragon, gurl. Its ALWAYS the wrong choice.
Also the fact that dragons have a much longer lifespan that what humans do, which means even if they end up together, he'll have to watch her grow old and die in front of him and not be able to do anything, with the chance of him going on rampage that no one would be able to stop, even if it is to either bring him back to himself or to put him to rest (there's a chance of another Caller being born if a 100 years plus the years it takes for them to grow up, it doesn't sound like that happens very often, and I don't think he would even be able to fully accept them into his heart as had with Sena).
It's just.... heartbreaking when you think about it, you know?
I wish people stopped pointing things from the novel, since the manhwa seems to be taking a different approach anyways (like people kept saying that the knight was the one to kill Shuli, but in here he obviously just arrived after she was dead). And all the people complaining about Elias's behavior too, and that particular topic hasn't even been mentioned. If the manhwa is going to deviate from the novel and I'm following the manhwa then this is the story I'm following. It's creating so much confusion in here that it's getting ridiculous.
THANK YOU! People complain so much about Lucia being a weak FL and don't realize that the theme of this story is about her mental strength not her agency as a character. What agency can she have when she lived almost her entire past life secluded, first as a princess and then as an abused wife? She doesn't have any physical skills or enhanced capabilities such as magic, and she lives in a setting in which a lone young woman has very limited possibilities. She literally has no support system whatsoever. I want anyone to point out to me another manga in which the "strong" MC has as little support as Lucia and still manages to successfully make a decision and carry it through, while keeping a core of her own identity and not losing herself.
- Abandoned Empress: Tia has the unconditional support of her father and powerful house.
- Who made me a Princess: Athy has magic and modern knowledge and mindset.
- Monster Duchess: Leslie has powerful magic
- Adonis: Iana is a genius swordwoman and has magic
- Raeliana: Raeliana has the support of her rich house plus modern knowledge and mindset.
- Doctor Elise: Elise has the support of his noble house and family plus modern mindset and genius knowledge.
- I'm a Child of this House: Estelle has the support of her noble house plus she has lost magic and is respected in society.
- Light and Shadow: Edna had genius swordmanship and extensive knowledge of her time as a man.
I could go on and on. I think the only other girl that comes to mind that was as defenseless as Lucia at the beginning of her story is Beatrice, (and I can't remember whether she was a modern reincarnator or not) and she took the same approach. Mind over matter, try to make the best of a bad situation. Not every female lead needs to be a powerhouse Mary Sue who can do anything.
In this latest chapter Lucia literally decided that she will love her husband in a way SHE can find acceptable, regardless of his attitude. SHE will give as much as SHE wants, SHE will decide how involved she will get. SHE has the control of their relationship and her own mental state. How can people say that's weak?
PLEASE LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK!!! i honestly think that people who likes reading generic royal/princess manhuas that has a predictable plot and characters are tasteless simple minded (I was like that back then) and doesnt really care about the story, they just want to read what pleases they’re fantasies. ANYWAY, Lets talk about how they forgave and talked about they’re mistakes immediately after the misunderstanding and didn’t drag the whole problem too long. This is how relationships should work people!! Not just in couples but through family, friends and other people as well!.
Ebony could be another comparison, but the minute she got out of jail she got the unconditional moral and financial support of the duke, who also did it without requesting anything in exchange (like, he didn't marry her for his own convenience like Hugh did with Lucia) so I still think it doesn't compare, even though I like the mental healing aspect of it quite a lot. Maxi from Under the Oak is the other lead I would say is more on the same boat as Lucia, as well as the MC from A Kind Goblin's Bird. These are all girls that would've been 100% defenseless if they had not married, because they had no form of social support in a society that would've victimized them without thinking twice about it. I wish people would stop to actually think about these things before they judge female characters. The Strong Woman is a concept motivated by modern society and how it gives agency to women, without the direct interference of a man. Hell, less than a century ago women could not vote. Less than 2 centuries ago, they couldn't even open a bank account. If you had no support, no security whatsoever, no money and no certainty of something as basic as your own physical safety, would you still be as strong and independent as you are now?
I'll go ahead and say it: I love this manhwa.
With Abandoned Empress, Raeliana and Doctor Elise ending is nice to have a couple great ones to take on the mantle. This and The Great Wish, gimme!!!!
