It's honestly... not very good. The first 5 chapters were actually interesting and it got me invested in the story. The main character born in the jail cell with their delusional mother who has been obviously wronged by the duke who is also a father that is truly despicable, and an incentive to make the story's original female lead life miserable. It would be so great to see it all, the orphanage destroyed, the duke finally opening his eyes to realize he wronged his wife and daughter, the og female lead never getting her happy ending, but of course, before any of that, they need to make her find her found family first. This is starting to feel like a rip off of 'The Monster Duchess and Contract Princess' ngl lmaooo I think the characters are just too similar not to compare.
1. A strong mother figure who offers a contractual relationship but starts to treat her like her actual child.
2. A reliable older brother with a bulkier build than the...
3. ...Younger brother who can use magic.
4. Main female lead is not used to people treating her with kindness
The only difference here is that there is actual pacing in the monster duchess... Everything happens so linerly and out of convenience for the female lead. They show no progression other than transitions that are like "2 months later" and suddenly she's already opened up to everyone and then when she meets the male lead it's another "2 months later" and he's suddenly an idiot who's madly in love with her. Don't get me wrong, I hate stories that drag things out their plot points that could have been told in 20 less chapters but this is just... there's no development that happens because it makes sense or that there's a good reason... it happens just because. Plus the female lead is stupid? She tells the male lead that she's the daughter of a villainess that "deserved to die" when she knows damn well that her mother didn't deserve to die?? She even narrated the story to us, explicitly stating that her mother and the duke had a good relationship until the og female lead's mother destroyed their marriage. They also make her cry so muchhhhh and why is her hair now white? Does this author want to rip off the monster duchess even more than they already have????????? And don't even get me started on the fact that every single chapter is uploaded twice...
