hey guys, jealousy is a perfectly fine emotion to feel. all emotions are valid. what isn’t okay is taking it out on other people. no one is going to crawl into your mind and reprimand you for emotions you can’t control. you can, however, control your actions, and actions have consequences. jiah probably stopped writing, something that gave her so much joy, so much so she even called it the golden age of her life, out of guilt for her friend probably taking out her jealousy on her. is it jiah’s fault people find her writing interesting? is it a talented artist’s fault for being more skilled in her brushwork? is it an office worker’s fault for being better at organizing data? let’s recognize that there are no faults except for those who outwardly display their jealousy, and harm others in the end. jiah may have not put as much effort into writing, but who are you or her friend to take away something that gave her so much joy?
if you’re currently in this position where you’re jealous of a friend, please keep being friends with them and recognize your jealousy is okay, it’s a natural human emotion. however, if you fear you’ll end up resenting them and might even take it out on them, cut them off for both of your sakes. maybe you guys can even revisit your friendship in the future like jiah and her friend, but that’s after some growth and reflection. seeing some comments here made me worry about how some of you think it’s okay to impose your insecurities onto others. if you can’t healthily communicate how you feel, it’s not a flex or something you should be proud of proclaiming…
