First of all, its like us people with multiple preferences don’t even exist! Half of this could’ve been avoided if someone just walked in and said, “hey, maybe your sexuality isn’t confined within the two extremes of the spectrum”
Even overlooking the blatant yet common denial of other sexualities doesn’t help much bc the main issue was totally wrong! The Seme was drunk not the Uke! He had every right to claim molestation but the author decided to make him the potential rapist? where’s the logic in that? It’s the lack of consent that determines what’s rape not the sexual position of the criminal! Uke is clearly at fault
Still, you might think, “oh both of that is quite common in the yaoi genre” and yes that’d be true. If you can look past those issues (like I tried) the plot was going great and all: there is communication and some semblance of growth. Then they hit you with the plot twist! The Uke lied! Here I was thinking that for all its flaws, it did a decent job of at least not painting the Uke to be the stereotypical desperate gay and seriously addressing the “gay awakening” of a straight Seme but the author really said F U by pulling that trick!
I’ve never written such a long feedback on any work before and I’ve read some pretty horrid things yaoi or no...It’s just that, I came in with so much hope but am left with the highest level of frustration. It’s only good points are the side characters, art and communication.
