He wasn’t brainwashed. The abuser told him these things over and over again and simply made him believe it was true while doing horrible things to him. In a way it’s similar to how people in abusive relationships don’t leave because the abuser tells them that no one else will ever love them. He simply began believing the things the abuser told him, especially since he was so young and he looked up to the abuser. It didn’t help that when he did get into a relationship, he got hurt and it was almost as if he listened to the abuser and didn’t get into a relationship, none of that would have happened and he begins to think everything is his fault. I have no idea if that explains it any better but I tried. x.x
