I learnt my lesson: can't hate the blonde before the character arc
Though flaws are not a objective quantifiable way to judge a character, let's just list down some so we're on the same page. Notes; I'm on chapter 58 of the raws.
Edgar criticism
X Pushed June to be always with him even if she has her own wants
X Out of jealousy and selfishness threw June's dreams into a fire
X Was never able to identify his feelings for June and thus unable to reciprocate her love
X Did not communicate
Edgar redeemable deeds
- Regrets his actions after shouting at June, realises his incompetency
- Eventually apologises to June and gives her money and encouragement for her dreams
June criticism
X Infidelity + the lack of self reflection
X Does not feel regret or remorse for her actions unless she is directly confronted (note; this is what initially made me question her actions so I may be biased)
X Out of jealousy, says a small lie to swoon blonde
X Uses blonde to achieve her dreams (I find that since they were mutual this is alright)
X Jealousy and resentment for Edgar leads to her sabotaging the relationship (in the raws)
June redeemable deeds

So here’s how I see it (perspective from the current chapter count):
Edgar is someone who’s denied his queerness for most of his life. He selfishly clings to a vision of June as part of HIS “perfect” life, misreading his attachment as romantic love. June, on the other hand, genuinely cares for Edgar and tries to support him, but she never feels truly seen or loved in the same way. She feels stuck and increasingly unhappy; unlike Edgar. This strain eventually pushes her toward cheating, and she shows very little remorse. She grows closer to blondie and even finds a form of joy in that bond (albeit obsessively) but the relationship was clearly over, so she can't be faulted. She does still care for Edgar, deeply enough to protect Edgar from blackmail and institutionalization.
This should have been where it ended, they communicated and moved on. But the raws happened. Anyways, I'm not gonna delve too deep into that, but June basically gets crazy seduced by blondie and become REAL obsessed.
Thoughts; until chapter 58, I love both the characters very much. They're like,,, doomed found family. Wait yeah dassit if anyone wants to add anything pls do ♡♡♡

I was wondering since [SPOILER] when Blondie provoked old guy "you won't find out because you're not a regas" the man looked upset/shocked. The chapter then went on to explain the family's curse, where everyone who tried to become regas ended up in love with the king. so maybe, VERY BIG MAYBE, blondie was poking at one of the old man's past regrets?
No. The Marquess was surprised because the fact that only a real regas could figure out the secret his family kept was, well, supposed to be a secret. It was the only leverage he had over blondie and threatened him with it, so when blondie spilled it his threat was nullified, and now the blondie had the upper hand because he could make it public and make the Marquess lose that power publicly.
