    In the genetic side of it all, if you have enough different blood in the bloodline, marrying isn't going to cause any defects. Punnet square for the win.

    That problem is why, 1st cousins, brothers and sisters and even 2nd cousins marry. You have a very high chance of birthdefects. But after 3rd cousins the rate drops to below 30%. Just like normal relationships.
